my ipod 30gb will not turn off

hi please help me, my ipod will not turn off by pressing and holding the pause button. has anybody else encountered this, i really need to know how i can turn it off as its just going to eat my battery.

any responses will be gratefully received

Try resetting it (if its a click wheel model, hold Menu and center button for 6-10 seconds. If its a 3rd generation, I believe you hold |<<, >>|, and the center buttons for 6-10 seconds). Once it reboots, sleep it then.

I have this problem only I've tried resetting and restoring many times, still no solution.

Does anyone know any alternative? Mine is the 5th gen 30GB video iPod.

I've had this problem ever since I got my 30 GB iPod. I usually deal with it by tapping the "SLEEP" option repeatedly for around 15 seconds then hold the |> || button for approximately 10 seconds. I tried all other methods to no avail, and am glad to see that I'm not the only one with the problem. I suggest this method only if you are desperate and patient.
EDIT: You do not need to reset it this way, but it might be more irritating.
