Touch wheel sensitivity to high

Try this...

Set the Hold switch to On.
Wait 10 seconds.
Without touching the wheel or center button, switch the Hold swithch to Off.

I also have the black nano and find the scroll wheel very sensitive...when I play the Vortex game, sometimes I don't realize it, but I'm actually primarily touching the middle select button and it still registers!

Same issue with my black 3G nano. Comming from a 2G nano , there is an obvious difference in sensitivity of the scroll wheel. Far too sensitive on the last generation nano which prevents from a smooth navigation in the menus. I have to be very light on the wheel and be careful to remove my thumb from it before clicking the center button to validate, otherwise I end up in the wrong place. Hope a firmware could solve this pb.

I would be amazed if a firmware update could fix what seems more like a hardware issue. But if they can dial down the sensitivity, I'm all for it.

I'm having the same problem with my Nano. Mine is a black model also -- that's probably just a coincidence, right?

But on the bright side, it's a relief to know that this is a problem. It's my first iPod ever, you see, and I was worried that the clickwheel was supposed to work like this!

I did not have any problems with the wheel. It was very sensitive, that's right, but I could control it very well. Though my sister couldn't and had to use several tries to open my music.

I've got my 3G red nano and its the same for me,should I send it back to have another one?

would i have the same problem if i exchanged it?is it the same for almost all ipod 3G?

I noticed this issue with my new Nano (Silver 4G). When I reach into my pocket to either pick it up, or, hit pause, my finger touches the wheel, and it either changes the volume, or forwards to the next song, etc.

I guess it will take some getting used to. I wish there was more to hold on the Nano, but being so small, the only place to grab it happens to be the click wheel!

i may be the odd one out, but thats what it usually is but i too have the black nano but there are no sensitivity problems with mine and i have owned an ipod before so its the same sensitivity. cool

I've found the "touch" on the 3rd generation nano too sensitive also. However, I tried several different colors at the Apple Store and they all seemed about the same (over sensitive). I've found that I can't use my thumb to press the center button which means that I have to use both hands to scroll and select menu items. So now I hold my nano in my left hand and carefully use a single finger tip from my right hand to make menu selections.

If they can't fix this in firmware it would be a little disappointing, but for the time being I think I can live with the current behavior. If it weren't for this one slight annoyance I'd have to say that the new nano is almost perfect (on the hardware side).

If I bought my Nano at the Apple store, would they give me a full refund just because "I'm not happy with the touch sensitivity?" or would there have to be a real flaw in order to get a full refund?

If this is something that Apple doesn't consider a flaw, I think I'd like to return it and get a "Touch."
