Blurry Screen HELP!!

Hey All,

I am new to the Mac world, and today is my first day using my new Macbook Pro -- but I am having a few problems. When I move my cursor over certain images it gets blurry, specfically the text, and I have to move it side to side over the same text to unblur things.

Has any one else had these problems?? I need some help, thanks.

Hi Eddy,

I may have the same problem, although it has only started 3 months after I purchased my MPB. In addition to the text blurring, I can also see my *whole screen* moving about a pixel to each side, depending how I move the cursor. Do you have the same experience?
Very oddly indeed, it appears to be only related to my account, not another account I logged into, nor the login screen itself. I don't think I cannot help you (I've already tried eg resetting the NVRAM), but let me know if you have the same odd experiences with this. We might get somewhat further if we indeed find more people with this exprience...

Ok, I've just been going through some other threads here in the forum, and your solution to the problem is very likely at the end of this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1017281&tstart=15
In short, there may be some third party software that (presumably accidentally) turns on your display zoom function (it's normally turned off), resulting in this odd effect. You may also accidentally have hit the command-alt-8, the zoom-option short cut. (The poster in the aforementioned thread suspects Parallels: you don't happen to run that on your new MPB? I do, so perhaps it indeed is a bug in Parallels. Or even Windows. Would be hard to find out for sure though.)
Since you're new to the Mac world, here's how to turn it off: go to system preferences, find 'universal access' and turn off the Zoom option. Clear bright letters again!

Hope that works.

I'm so happy I found this thread! About an hour ago my display went just the tinniest bit blurry and looked strange. At first I thought it was my eyes! Turns out I was also accidentally zoomed about 1%.

I wanted to share something that doesn't seem to be specified by the 'zoom' function in the System Preferences. If you hold down the control key and then 'scroll,' either with an mouse wheel or with two fingers on a new trackpad, it will zoom the same as the function keys specified by the universal access preference pane. This will STILL WORK even if you have the 'zoom' function turned off in System Prefs. I think that while I was working and had the control key down, I must have brushed the trackpad in just the right way to zoom in the tinniest bit. So if this happens to others, even with 'zoom' turned off, this might be the reason.

Anyway, nice work folks.

Just as a side-note: while the scroll-zoom does work for me as well, I don't think that's the cause of the problem: the minute I release the control-button, the screen goes back to normal 100% zoom; it doesn't stay fixed at 101% zoom or so.
From the suggestion in the previous draft, and from my own experience, it may have to do with running some other program in full-screen mode. For me, that would be linux under VMWare (and for the other thread, Windows under Parallels). I could certainly imagine that running a different OS, with a different window system, in a virtual machine and in full screen, could cause this problem when getting back to OS X.
