FYI: $100 Store Credit doesn't always work for iTunes Gift Cards

They are changing the fine print. The spokesperson said that you are able to get itunes gift card. They claim it was a typo. Hope you did'nt buy anything yet.

Great because my wife and I want to our $100 Apple credits on iTunes card and extended insurance plan.

Here's what the iPhone store credit terms say:

You can purchase just about anything sold by Apple, except another Apple Store Gift Card or an iTunes electronic Gift Certificate.

Seems to me that an iTunes Music Store gift card (a physical card, not an electronic one) would be okay.

you can use the credit for a physical iTunes card, i just did! 🙂 just go to the online store & select two $50 itunes gift cards, ships in 7 days...

I just purchased four $25 iTunes Gift Cards from the Online Store, also. No problems!

Customers may not redeem their store credits: (1) at any iTunes Store in the United States or elsewhere, (2) Apple Store locations outside the United States; (3) at Apple resellers; (4) for cash; (5) to purchase Apple Gift Cards, or,iTunes Store Gift Certificates, to give iTunes Store content as gifts, or to create iTunes Store allowances

Then you are in agreement that they should be able to purchase iTunes Gift Cards. Is this correct?

Yes you can buy the iTunes gift CARDS. I bought two $50 cards from the Apple online store and they are already in the mail. I think the fine print is very confusing, apparently even for Apple employees.

i went to the itunes section of www.apple.com and bought 2 $50 itunes cards using my credit - i got an order acknowledgement so it looks like the transaction worked - this was on friday morning when the rebate 1st came out - i got an email order acknowledgement but according to the order status they havent shipped yet - ill believe it worked when (and if) they finally ship

The way I see it gift certificates are the electronic ones you can buy through the iTunes store. Gift cards are the physical ones you can buy in the Apple Store. I had no problem buying the cards from the online store. I think the Apple store employees are interpolating them to be the same thing in order to prevent people from using their iPhone credit to get music.

The terms of the credit are clearly stated on the credit page.

So regardless of what happened before, if you were able to get around the gift card/gift certificate verbiage then great, but they fixed the loophole so no one can take advantage of that anymore.

And for the record, when I go to Baskin Robbins to buy a 'credit' they're called "Gift Certificates" ... so basically people are arguing semantics.

A iTunes Gift Card and iTunes Gift Certificate are not the same thing. A iTunes Gift Certificate is sent via email. It says nothing about not being able to use it for iTunes Gift Cards.

Excuse me but you are misreading it:

It is not merely semantics because gift cards are indeed different from gift certificates.
