I have gone thru bunches of cases. I have bought and returned about 8 cases. I am on my ninth which is by FAR the best one. iSkin Revo! this is my favorite. I don't use the protective hard plastic cover, net concept, it fits well but not practical to put in on an take it off all the time. Nor do I use the protective film that came with it. I have the clear plastic film protection (covers the entire front) from apple. But the rubber case is the best one I have had.

Here is my answer to the best case question. Go to the at&t store and purchase the CaseMate Signature case. (Signature Leather Case for iPhone in Phantom Black). With this case you get a "clear shield" cover for the face of the iPhone and at the same time a case that protect the phone should you drop it. The issue with this case is the way it's held to a belt or pair of sacks. The clip does not protect the iPhone well as it rests on the belt or slacks. To solve this problem and provide maximum protection for the phone while carrying it on my hip, I purchased the hip case for the at&t 8525. This case comfortably attaches to the belt or slacks (hip),and you can insert the iPhone in the Signature case into the 8525 case. Now you can protect the iPhone while out of the 8525 case because it's contained in the Signature case.

I reseached the best way to gain easy access and at the same time protect it while carrying the case on my hip and also protect the phone while in use out of the case. This system works really well.

I concur. I bought the Case-Mate Signature case too, because it offered protection, grippability, and good looks. But, I bought the Krusell Multidapt Pictor S holster case to hold the Signature covered iPhone. I don't use the Case-Mate belt clip because I saw the warnings others gave (Thank You!). I wanted protection and convenient carrying too. The Krusell is a bigger than it needs to be, but I like the clip that it comes with. Don't trust some of the belt clips I've seen on other holster cases. I'll look at that AT&T case you mentioned.

I purchased the Vaja Top Retro Dockable and have been using it for several weeks now. I love it! Vaja Cases are expensive but very much worth it. This case has a face cover flap and all the cutouts for full button/port use. When worn on the belt, the belt clip doesn't stick out far and can be hidden under an untucked shirt with ease. Without the belt clip, it still slides in and out of pockets with ease while keeping the face protected. It fits it perfectly but it easy enough to slide the iPhone out to thoroughly clean the face and such. If you don't mind spending a little bit more for a case, this is well worth it!

I just ordered an ivolution top vaja. can't wait to get it. it is expensive but not really considering how many cases i have been through. i bought a case mate but the leather came apart the 2nd day i had it, i returned it. but i was going to use it and then get another case to clip on and the 2 cases cost about the same as the Vaja. and with the vaja i don't need another case.

Guess I'll chime in.

Am a big fan of the Contour ShowCase ( http://www.contourcase.com/showcase/showcaseiphone/) for iPhone.

I'd agree to some degree with a few of the posters here that a belt clip "dorks out" the iPhone; but I personally feel the need to use one. Trying to access the iPhone while in a pocket to adjust the volume or change tracks (I hate the Apple ear buds, and don't have an iPhone-compatible head set yet) is impossible for me. So, I just wear shirts "untucked," and it covers the iPhone belt clip. Once I get the Vibe Duos, I guess I could do away with the belt clip; but it's really handy, and I guess I'll sacrifice the "dork look" for convenience.

Back to the case, the Apple Stores I've been to keep telling me the Contour ShowCase "can't stay on the shelf." I love mine. I coupled mine with the CrystalSupport film (thanks, iPhone early adopters' credit!), and couldn't be happier. The case just makes the iPhone feel "sturdier" and less slippery. I too, though, like a "naked" iPhone and prefer it; but I don't trust myself enough sometimes so the Contour ShowCase is a pretty sweet setup.

For an even bigger "dork factor," the belt clip does double as a video stand. But for me, I don't really care about "looking cool" with an iPhone. I want it to be protected & safe; so if that means I look like an uber-geek to make that happen, so be it. "Looking cool" means nothing to me.

In my opinion the best case is actually two cases + an accessory. I've been using the CaseMate Leather Flip Case, it completely protects the phone yet easily flips open for use. I use it when I'm going to carry the phone in my pants pocket or otherwise waant to be sure the face is kept protected.

I also bought the CaseMate Signature Leather Case in red which is more "formal" and protects the entire phone except for the phone face.

And thirdly I bought the CaseMate Signature iPhone Holster which either of the above two easily slide into if I want to use a holster. The holster so far stays firmly on my belt.

Both cases also come with screen protectors and a cleaning cloth and at present free monogramming.

By doing this I actually have the equivalent of four different cases.

I did as Jennifer did and bought the DLO HipCase from AT&T. Here's the link:

It's a very nice case, with a decent clip built in, and the leather has kept my iphone fairly clean of scratches - no big ones I have seen at all. Also, once you get used to it, you can open the case, and push the phone out into your hand with one fluid motion, for a nice quickdraw. I've been wearing it constantly for three weeks and it looks brand new - same with the iPhone.

My wife got the casemate leather holster one where another person has mentioned it coming off by spinning around. I myself am too dangerous for this kind of case (I am a general contractor) - the DLO case keeps the iPhone as close to your body as it's going to get - and the horizontal placement is perfect for minimal impact. You should be able to walk into AT&T and get them to take one out of the box so you can try it on.
