I have a new iMac 24" and so far the only insoluble problem I have met in getting all my old stuff to work is that my Sony DSC-T1 does not mount. The computer is set to launch Image Capture when a digital camera is connected. However, when the camera is powered on, its USB display remains white instead of going red as it does when communicating with a computer, and the iMac does not 'see' it - although it is there in System Profiler/USB. There is no joy even if it is plugged directly into a USB port on the iMac itself. Any hints much appreciated.
Hi, my Canon SD900 is the same (will not mount, says it will not in the instruction manual), I use a card reader..Maybe set iPhoto to Open when camera is connected..L
Hi, I am not sure your hopes can be met, "what we want is somewhat different to what we sometimes get" -> what is wrong with using the card reader?
My Canon SD900 will never mount"" I want it too, my the card reader saves hours of agro trying to accomplish the impossible...L
Camera recognition is a somewhat dicey thing in any OS. Besides, a reader is also safer. While it's unlikely, I have known people to fry their cameras when something happens to interrupt a direct camera>computer download (power failure, cat/child knocks camera off desk, etc.)
You might also try going to image capture without the camera connected and choosing no application or do nothing for "when a camera is connected." You don't need image capture to get photos onto your mac. If you turn off image capture does the camera mount as a drive on the desktop?
Hi, I'm sure you have but - with my other digitals - I first connect camera cable between camera & computer, then set camera to Replay (green triangle icon) then I turn the camera On. Some cameras have various options for transferring. Maybe also go onto the Sony FAQ site...L
I am now having to use a card reader, but it is inconvenient. I have also established that the camera is just as unco-operative with a MacBook Pro. Is this an issue with Intel Macs in general, and in which case, should one look to Apple or to Sony to fix it?
Hi, I am somewhat suprised, all the benefit of experienced Mac people and being informed that some" digital cameras are not recognised (as in my Canon SD900) but will open iPhoto if your Preferences are set correctly and you still continue with the "I Want".. Personally I would consider the information given in the Forum excellent..L
