iPhone Replacement While Being Repaired?

That's such an individual decision that I'm not sure it's answerable.

Thomas...This depends on two things...1) Do you have an old phone from ATT/Cingular that would accept a sim card, if so, then use that phone with your current sim card. 2)Do you rely on your phone alot? If so then a rental for the $29 bucks would be worth it, if you can get by for 3-5 days without a phone, then let it go. Hope that helps.

I agree...how badly do you need a phone? Personally I keep an extra cheapo phone around just in case.

Thomas...In my case, I had my replacement phone in 48 hours, however, in the agreement with Apple it says within 7 days and that is how long the rental period is good for. I believe most in this forum would agree that less then 5 days is the norm.

If they can't fix your phone they will replace it. I think their official language is that it could either be a new or refurb unit

Most say it takes 5 business days to get it back. If you need a phone during that time and you don't have a backup it sounds like you need the loaner phone. Remember to remove your SIM card before you ship the iPhone out and sync your current phone so you have a current backup of your info. Pictures that have been taken on your iPhone don't backup so make copies of them also.

...again, this depends on your phone. They will FedEx you overnight your loaner phone, postage free, you will sync your phone, take out the sim card and place in the loaner phone and re-sync...90% of your stuff will be sync'd to your loaner phone. You will package up your phone in the same box, affix the provided FedEx label and ship it off to Apple (it goes to Texas).

They get it the next day and you can track on the Apple web site. You will see that it is going through a diagnostic evaluation. From that they will determine if it is repairable or needs to be replaced. Your replacement could be a new phone or a refurbished phone. They will FedEx it to you and you repeat the above and send them back the loaner phone.
