swf file plays back really slow.

Hi All,

i followed Artotems instructions on uploading flash files using web snippets. Its worked, but when i go to the actuall webpage, the file plays back really slowly and stuttery. My file is 600x336 , and its 5 megs. is this too big ? its an swf file render out of after effects. any ideas anyone ? also...can you do the same thing but use .FLV files instead ? ( flash video )??

here is the link to the site i am building.

5 MB is a very very large Flash file. Are you able to create a flv file and then call it with an swf file? This would be much more efficient. To see an example go here: http://web.mac.com/catucker/InsideOutside/Explore.html
See the Alan Watts Project Flash file and "Seeing". This is an swf file calling up a large flv file. Does it work for you?

As to the Firefox issue I'm unsure why. I have no issues with this. Tell me more.

Best!

you have been SO HELPFUL ! thanks !! we need more people like you.

so you are saying i can render out an .flv file and just rename the extension to .swf ?? would this be a smaller file ? i cant seem to get the .swf file smaller than 56 megs out of after effects, the only way would be to make the actual size (600x336) smaller....but this would make the animation too small on the screen....and i like the size of it now. i will try the .flv thing tonight.
the firefox thing fixed itself. this morning when i tried it, it played the flash file. slowly and sluggishly, like safari, but it played it back. so maybe it had to update ? dont know....not sure. thanks again....and let me know about renaming the file...can i just change the extension ?
thanks a million!!

ME AGAIN....sorry for the long string of emails. someone just told me i could use a "pre-loader" ?? because the file takes a while to load, adn as its loading it kind of steps throught the animation....once it loads...if you right click on it and tell it to play...it plays back in real time speed. so if put in a preloader, this would allow for people NOT to see the slow sluggish animation, but they will see the preloader, and then once its done loading, the preloader goes away and the animation plays back fine. does this make sense ? any idea where i can find instructions on how to use preloaders ? or how to put them in web ? thanks.
