iTunes Store down?

Is the iTunes store not working? Everytime I try to access the store I get the following message:

iTunes could not connect to the iTunes Store
Make sure your network connection is active and try again

Now the funny thing is that one of the podcasts I subscribe to downloaded automatically. Every other network/internet function of my MacBook is working fine.

MacBook Pro 2.4 GHz and PowerMac G4 867, Mac OS X (10.4.10)

What I find a bit disturbing about the unavailability of the iTunes store is that the connection message puts the burden on the user; i.e. the issue is placed upon the consumers, clearly "Make sure YOUR network connection is active and try again", rather than apologizing for the inconvenience. Given Apple's technological prowess, I would have expected a better notification than one that insinuates the issue is with us.

Hi Holly

Post the problems you have been having, and perhaps we (long-time Mac users) can help.

Stick with the Mac and you won't regret it, even though you may need to ask for help in this time of transition.

I am having problems connecting to the Music store too... and it definitely isn't a Mac issue. It's an ITMS problem...

Post a few help requests and you will find that this community is more than ready to help.
