iTunes Store down?

Is the iTunes store not working? Everytime I try to access the store I get the following message:

iTunes could not connect to the iTunes Store
Make sure your network connection is active and try again

Now the funny thing is that one of the podcasts I subscribe to downloaded automatically. Every other network/internet function of my MacBook is working fine.

MacBook Pro 2.4 GHz and PowerMac G4 867, Mac OS X (10.4.10)

I was on iTunes about 10 minutes ago, went to another area of iTunes, then could not get back to the store. It all happened within a couple seconds. I was trying to make a ringtone for my iPhone. I received the following message:
iTunes could not connect to the iTunes Store
Make sure your network connection is active and try again
There is nothing wrong with my connection.

HERE'S A FIX.......

Go to the iTunes page on the Apple website and download the full version of the software. No preferrable for some, but this does work. After downloading, go through all the prompts. The software will NOT overwrite your music. It will ask if you want to upgrade. Select Upgrade and let the install do it's thing.

I just performed the install and it fixed my problem. Don't forget to repair permissions afterward. This should be done after every software install.

I updated iTunes and I can't access the store. On my other two Macs I did not update. I am able to access iTunes on both computers that were not updated but not on the one with the latest update. While the internet was down earlier tonight it is now up and every other application works. Yahoo chat, AOL, Safari and so forth. Seems to me the problem is the update. My caution to everyone from my limited experience of three computers is do not update until this problem is solved.
