itunes can't connect to store - error 11333 after update to 7.4.2.4 for win

I downloaded 7.4.2.4 for windows today and afterwards couldn't access the store at all, or my account, or check for tv shows to download for my multi-pass i purchased. what's up? i did all the troubleshooting and everything appeared fine - my connection was fine, it wasn't my firewall, computer date/time fine, the itunes network diagnostic said everything was fine. i wound up deleting all the itunes stuff (as described on the itunes for windows trouble installing page) and downloading an old version, 7.3.2.6, from oldapps.com/itunes.htm and now i can access the store like before, although i lost my library file and playlists and had to add everything back in.

So I've spent about 2 hours trying to fix this - are others having this problem? It seems like there are soo many problems popping up on this discussion board. I'm definitely not going to update itunes in the future without checking here first.

I don't think there is any solution yet. I didn't get a response from apple until I filled out the email form at the bottom of their itunes store connection FAQ, and the response I've gotten is that they're working on it. So if you ran network diagnostics from the iTunes help menu (Help>Run Diagnostics>Network Diagnostics) and it didn't say the date and time are off on your computer, you should email them! The email address is iTunesStoreSupport@apple.com.

There are several threads with this same problem in this forum and the iTunes store for windows forum, and some people were able to connect after checking the date/time or some other stuff. If there's anything apple can do right now besides figure out what's causing this, it would be nice to have a checklist of stuff you could try on your computer if you are having this specific error message.

At the bottom of your network diagnostics it will list 3 attempts to connect - below that there might be this line:
"The date and time on this computer is not set correctly. Secure connections to the iTunes Store may fail."
Whether or not you see this you should try to adjust your date/time. Right click on the time, go to 'Adjust Date/Time,' click on the 'Internet Time' tab, then click on the 'Update Now' button. It will connect with a server and should soon tell you whether it successfully synchronized or not - if it didn't work, try the other options on the list of servers.
This did not help me, but it has helped a lot of other people who were getting the exact same error message. If it doesn't help you should contact apple store support at this page: itunes store customer service - connection FAQ. At the very bottom of the screen is an email form you can fill out and someone will email you back within 24 hours, although they just told me they're working on it.

You can download 7.3.2.6 at oldapps.com/itunes.htm.

I also had the error about the library file being updated by a newer version - in fact I posted a thread about downgrading because I realized afterwards I could have prepared for it: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1154279&tstart=15.
After I wrote that I found on the oldapps website a forum where they said to just pull the itunes library.itl file out of the itunes folder and try to open itunes again. If that doesn't work another thing you can try is to look in the 'previous itunes library' folder in your itunes folder, move whatever file is in there to the itunes folder, and rename it to just itunes library or itunes library.itl and try opening itunes again.

There is an itunes library.xml file also in the itunes folder - I think you can just leave that in there; it's the .itl file that needs to be moved.

Finally got an email from the itunes store support people with a solution that actually worked. It's included on this new page specifically for the 11333 error: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=306628. Before this I had tried everything suggested and nothing helped.

These are the instructions - if you are using Firefox you should right-click on the links and choose 'save link as' then follow the instructions for installing the certificates:

"It is possible that iTunes is unable to verify the validity of your security certificate due to an issue with your Certificate Revocation Lists. To resolve this, first download and install the server1.crl file from Entrust:

Download this file: http://crl.entrust.net/server1.crl

In the resulting dialog box, click Save and save the file to your desktop.
Click Close when the file has finished downloading.
Right-click the server1.crl file on your desktop and choose Install CRL from the shortcut menu.
Click Next.
Ensure that "Automatically select the certificate store based on the type of certificate" is selected.
Click Next.
Click Finish.
Click OK.

Next, download and install the net1.crl file from Entrust:

Download this file: http://crl.entrust.net/net1.crl
In the resulting dialog box, click Save and save the file to your desktop.
Click Close when the file has finished downloading.
Right-click the net1.crl file on your desktop and choose Install CRL from the shortcut menu.
Click Next.
Ensure that "Automatically select the certificate store based on the type of certificate" is selected.
Click Next.
Click Finish.
Click OK.

Once these Certificate Revocation Lists have been imported, quit iTunes if it is running and then open iTunes again. You should now be able to access the iTunes Store."

And now I can connect to the store again with 7.4.3.1. 😝

I'm having pretty much the same problem only when I try to open itunes it goes right to the store (or tries) except it freezes and only goes so far.
There were a lot of things I wanted to download (some were the free stuff like mccartney and ringo and now they'rre gone.

Each time I try to open itunes it's the same thing. freeze up the computer and then reboot.

toonz,

this is the file from the network diagnostic I did while still running 7.4.2.4 - I also sent it with an email to the tech support for itunes store; so far all I've heard back is that they are working on it and will send me an email when it's fixed. (by the way, I deleted the ip addresses etc. but everything else is the same as it was then.)

Running itunes 7.3.2.6 is working fine, by the way, I was immediately able to connect to the store and download. If anyone else is thinking about downgrading, try saving your playlists first (search for 'saving playlists' in itunes help) because you won't be able to use your old itunes library file. I don't know if saving the playlists separately will help, since I didn't know that would happen when I started. 😟 meeshala

Not fixed yet for me - today I tried downloading 7.4.3.1 and got the same error again. So I'm back to 7.3.2.6, which works fine.

The two things that do seem to help people are syncing the date/time on your computer and also unchecking the proxy server in the LAN connections (somewhere in control panel-internet connections) but neither of those helped me. My network diagnostic with the latest update still looks fine, said I could connect, blah blah. In fact, here it is below for those interested; I will also be contacting itunes store support again. 😟
