anyone else have this issue? there is no ringtones menue, and i have TONES of purchased music...i cant even set the view options to enable ringtones, i have itunes 1.7.4
I had the same problem last night at home: Try this troubleshooting method that got mine to show and then post back if it works.
While in your music folder, click on help and check for new updates. See if all of a sudden your bells appear, then click it again and see if they disappear.
I believe their is bug that is connected to checking for new updates.
you have to update your iPhone and iTunes to the newest versions and then unplug you iPhone and restart your computer. If not go under "Preferences" then under "General" and check "Ringtones"
Eric...these things were all tried yesterday. Users are still have problems with the bell tones disappearing since the 7.4.2 update. I did troubleshooting last night and this is what I came up with. Need regular posters to test it out and see if this is a new bug or what. Looking for validation of a new issue for this poster and others.
I have the same problem - purchased 3 ringtons, updated iTunes and now they're not in the Ringtones Fodler, although the m4r files exists in my Itunes Music/Ringtones folder. I tried to drag and drop them back into itunes, and the files movied from iTunes Music/Ringtones to iTunes Music/Artist/Album.
This is frustrating that I've paid $6 for these 3 ringtones that only worked for a few days and now they're useless...
Running iTunes 7.4.2 and iPhone software is up to date.
My problem seems a little different. I have updated software everywhere, the ringtone logo shows up in iTunes songs list, but when I go to create a ringtone, the option is not available - it is in gray in my menu.....
I have the same issue. The option for ringtones is greyed out in the menu while connected to iTMS, but visible when not connected. Neither clicking on the ringtone bell or menu work. I removed all .m4r files from my iTunes directory, reinstalled iTunes, and checked to ensure that all updates were applied.
-Selected my music library
-Selected a song that I purchased authorized for ringtones
-Selected "Create Ringtone" from the Store menu
-iTunes prompted me to agree to the terms of service in iTMS
Once in iTMS, the "create Ringtone" option is still grey
-Returned to my music library
-Again selected the purchased song
-Selected "Create Ringtone" from the Store menu
-Ringtone created
