Ipod touch- radio remote

Just got my ipod touch today but the radio remote does not work with this model even though the apple site advises that it is compatible. Has anyone else had the same problems and do you know if apple will release a software update to allow this remote to work?

The product description for the radio remote indicates only the following iPods work;

iPod nano 1st generation
iPod nano 2nd generation (aluminum)
iPod with video
iPod nano 3rd generation (aluminum)
iPod classic

Unfortunatlety, current accessories for older models, including the universal dock, are not totally compliant with the iPod Touch. Apple 'said' they were going to release a new line of accessories, marked 'ipod touch compatible' but these are yet to materialise. Maybe after the 28th?

But no, these current accessories will not work with the Touch, and it is very unlikely they will be upgraded by a software release.

I am really hoping that Apple releases an FM Remote for the touch as there is no other way to adjust the volume when the touch is in your pocket, without taking it out. The touch lacks the physical up/down button of the iPhone. What's more, I really enjoy FM.

My radio remote for the ipod video looks identical to the one on the apple site that states it is compatible with the touch, however it is not. I called the apple store and they said the remote would not work. Now I am really confused.

well they are right the ipod radio remote will not work with the new ipod touch. I know that the UK store site it is but it is wrong. On the US store website it states it is not compatible. I have read a few reviews stating the same thing.

If you bought the radio remote just recently return it. Then fill out a feedback stating what you would like. Thats what i did.

It's possible Apple have redefined the word 'compatible' to mean 'will not cause bodily harm'.
