iPod Touch and Griffin RoadTrip

Apparently only the iTrip, not the RoadTrip...

I don't see any reason why the Road Trip would not work. I use a Road Trip with a 30 gig iPod Video. Both Pods are 2.4 inches in width and both Pods have their ports on the bottom of the pod (centered). There is only 2/10 of an inch different in height and I don't see where that would matter. The Touch is a little thinner so we may need a little thicker padding (the Road Trip came with a pad to keep a 30 gig iPod video snug, the 60 gig is a little thicker) to keep it snug. I'm pretty sure I had read that the port on the Touch will plug into all iPod accessories. The Griffin web site show a universal transmitter to be used with the Touch but I still think it will work and will let you know as soon as my Touch gets here.

I e-mailed Griffin with this question and have pasted their answer below. As I thought, there is a slight size difference and they will be offering the correct sized clip. I will still try to modify the clip I have now.

I tried my iPod Touch in the Griffin Road Trip and it works just fine. The clip holds the iPod Touch snuggly since it's the same width as iPod Video and that you just "tap" the controls instead of putting any pressure. The Touch is MUCH thinner than the iPod Video so there is a big space behing the Touch in the clip. I'll check out Griffin's new clip but it worked just fine as is and I live in a rural area with bumpy lime rock roads.

I'm a little concerned with how often the Road Trip goes into charge mode with the Touch. I don't remember it charging so much with iPod Video.
