Can you download Yahoo Messenger to the iPod Touch?

If you're adventurous there's a web-based IM site, but it only handles 10 users.

what about any other 3rd party apps for the touch? I am contemplating getting one, but would like to use a few different applications on it that are currently not on it


As a side note, is there any reason as to why I cannot start a new thread? I am new to this forum, but have a few questions before i let go of $400+.

Apple are deadly against hacking or modifying any model, whether it be the iPhone or iPod Touch. No-one has broke the iPod Touch ... yet. For now, people are making applications like FLICK IM and BEEJIVE to work with safari, and cloaking them to look like the iPhone's interface. So at the minute, no 3rd party 'download and run' apps available, but safari java and ajax scripts are available for tasks like instant messener and search engines.

Apple has started "blacklisting" iPhones for hacking and installing 3rd party apps. This cuts out service and replacements/exchanges/returns. Read about it at engadget.

Yeah, at the end of the day, people who bought an IPhone, bought the AT&T contact. They are providing a service, which 'seems' from the US to be pretty darn good. Why fiddle with it?
