unknown error 2131 PLEASE HELP I've tried everything!!!!!

Hello! I am completely new to this forum but I am desperate!! Every time I try to burn a playlist to a disc from my itunes, the software checks the playlist, and initializes the disc, and then I get the message " The attempt to burn a disc failed. An unknown error occurred (2131)." I have emailed support twice and have gotten responses with numerous trouble shooting ideas...all to no avail. I have the newest itunes downloaded. My burn program is working correctly because I have successfully burned with it. I am wasting cd's each time I try to burn from itunes because it does initialize the disc. I am so extremely frustrated and am looking at other paid downloading sites, but am disappointed because I really wanted to use itunes, in addition to wasting 15 dollars on the songs that I cannot burn to a cd. Has anyone ever gotten this error message before? Does anyone know what it means and what I can do to fix it? PLEASE anyone that can help I would appreciate it sooooooooo very much!!!! I have no idea what to do anymore! Thank you so much!!! Lynne

Hey! Sorry about that, I should have elabourated a little more, Yes i tunes is copy protected, so you wouldnt be able to burn music from i tunes through windows media player, however you should be able to write music thats already stored under windows media player. Iv givin up on i tunes for the moment, untill this gets sorted out, just been using windows media player to burn and windows media direct to listen to my music, no matter what any1 says though, a new cd drive or new burner will not resolve this issue. Afraid i dont know much more!!!

has anyone had any success with changing/updating drivers to fix the (error 2131) problems with dell laptops?!?! This is driving me crazy, I have a dell PC with most of my downloaded itunes music on there, and I have this laptop (Inspiron 1501) with very few itunes downloaded music. However I have yet to burn a single disc using the laptop.

I'm having the same probley as Lynne. Only, my error was 4251 using Sony CD-R Music compact discs. I also had success burning CD-RWs. However, these CD's are not recommended to use in your vehicles cd player (read owner's manual). I was using the CD-RWs in mine and it locked up my CD player. It cost me $180 to get it fixed.

All I need to do is burn a waltz to a cd for a 15 year-old to dance with her father at a party. I tried to burn to a CD-R, so we can listen to it on a stereo. Nothing, nada, zilch. I get the same 2131 error message. Twice my pc froze with a blue error screen - this is the only time it has ever done that. Just short of going to a Windows Music reseller, what can I do? BTW, the Itunes help is of no help...it is the most basic help I have ever seen.

I would appreciate anyone's help.
