Pioneer CD-iB100ii w/ iPod Classics

Ok, I bought two iPod Classics. One 160GB (for everything in MP3/320 kbps) and one for really good stuff in Apple Lossless. Not to be rude, but don't even start questioning whether I can tell the difference. I can.

I have this Pioneer interface in my car with a Pioneer DEH-P7800MP CD player. It's wonderful, at least was with my 5th Gen.

Now, here's what happens with the classics:

- If I plug in the iPod and turn on the system, it starts playing, everything is fine. The OSD (on-screen display) shows the correct information.

- If I advance to the next track in the playlist, it's fine, everything on the OSD updates.

- If I let the album or playlist continue to play, the OSD will remain on the track information from the first track played. After this, it is stuck, even if I advance to a different track.

- If I then select a different album, it updates properly.

- If, when it is stuck, I turn off or unplug the iPod, then turn on the system or plug the iPod back in, the information updates properly.

At first, I thought it was only a problem with the 160GB (with 1.0.1) on it. The 80GB worked fine for a bit, then I noticed it did it too (1.0.0).

I know Apple's made database changes, but the ability to browse artists/albums/playlists from the CD player works fine... in fact, the problem of the lag with the CD-iB100i is much reduced, probably due to a faster hard drive.

I'm hoping this is something Apple can fix via firmware.

I'm having the same problem. MY 80gb and 60gb worked fine on my Pioneer DEH-P7800MP CD player. My new 160 gb only works well for about 10 minutes. If I try to advance the track I lose my track information and artist on my head unit. It will freeze with the same song and artist being displayed. I can advance the ipod, but it will not update on my pioneer cd player.

Well...it does look like the firmware update fixed this problem. Gotta say, I'm actually pretty impressed that this fix came so quickly.

Not really an apple question, but since we're all in possession of Pioneer car audio equipment here...Is anyone other than me using the DEH-P880PRS head unit? If so, have you found a way to search for albums or songs, rather than having to scroll slowly through the entire lists? I've got over 10K songs loaded on my 80GB iPod Classic, and it's a real pain in the butt having to scroll through all of them (or even just the artists or albums). Plus, the screen only shows 3 results at a time, which makes it even more aggravating.

Also, I've found that once I've selected an album (or artist or playlist) and a song is playing, if I want to go back to the list of albums, the unit always defaults to the top of the list, rather than the album I'm currently playing. Has anyone experienced this and, if so, have you found a way around it?
