Apple Trailers? Any luck? Unlimited ipod touch storage?

You guys have any luck getting www.apple.com/trailers/iphone to work?

If the ability to play quicktime videos easily becomes reliable...then this story becomes very interesting I think.

I checked out the website you posted and noted that it goes right to the apple trailers. When my ipod touch got there I had success watching the movie trailer for Beowulf and Mr. Woodcock. The only other movie i tested was hatchet but that seemed not to work. Also I was able to watch the movie trailers in landscape too.

GFF 🙂

Nice. It wasn't working for me before. I guess I just randomly clicked on movies that didn't work. Most of the embedded links in the large photos don't work, but the one's down bottom do.

Has anyone tried the unlimited storage idea? I don't know how to put a file on the internet, but could some one try it and see if it works?

No it didn't work. I wonder if it has to be formatted for the touch or something, because those trailers on their page work if you click on the ones that are ipod touch ready. However, if you go to any of the normal trailer pages...and click trailer 1 for example...it won't work. It just gives you a grayed out quicktime icon with a slash through it (which is what I just got with this)

I hope one of you smart guys/gals figures this out, because this would be a pretty useful little feature.

hmmm...I don't have an mp4 handy to upload, I am not sure what format I just sent you to though but I don't think it was h264, anyway it would be logical to assume that if it is encoded with h264 and does not exceed the size limit ie 640x? then it should work. perhaps that is why some of the trailers dont work...they just exceed the size requirement. guessing

I think the problem is only with specific pages on the apple trailers web site and not a bug with the Touch. My iPhone will go to the iPhone formatted pages (/trailers/iphone/fox/hitman) just fine. My coworker's Touch will try to go to the iPhone formatted page, but you can see the screen flash a couple of times and the url changes when it gets redirected to the non-iPhone trailer page. This page doesn't have the mobile Safari compatible version of the trailer. I think the pages that are having problems are not correctly recognizing that you are running mobile Safari. A small bit of information (called a user agent string) about your browser is submitted every time you go to a web page. The iPhone's starts out as "Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U;"... and the Touch's starts out as "Mozila/5.0 (iPod; U;"...

I think the pages you are having problems with are checking to see if the user agent string says "iPhone" in it, which it doesn't, so it redirects to the non-mobile version. Apple needs to change those pages to check to see if it says "iPhone" OR "iPod".
