Xvid in Quicktime 7 on Windows?

Hi,
Sorry if this has been posted before, but I can't find it.
Is there a way to play Xvid .avi files in QuickTime 7.2 on Windows?
As the plugin you can get on Apples site is only for Mac OS X.

Many thanks 🙂

Since QuickTime is the main media player for Macs, many 3rd party video codecs on Macs install for use w/ QuickTime. Most 3rd party video codecs on Windows will not work within QuickTime unless they are specifically written to do so. It would be nice if Apple 'fixed' QuickTime for Windows to also use standard Windows codecs.

If you're trying to view a XviD video, you'll have to use WMP or some other 'generic' Windows media player. If you're trying to convert a XviD video to a QuickTime format, you may have to use a different converter (to at least convert it to a format QT can handle). There's a chance renaming the extension of the file to .mp4 might allow it to be read as a generic MPEG-4 file, but probably not. Or you can get a Mac and do it! 😉
