Right...
I just set up a trial .mac account to test from this computer and that seems to send emails just fine. I tried using smtp.mac.com as the outgoing mail server on my other account but I still get the same error message.
I've also just spent 45 mins on the phone to my ISP (BT) and have exhausted all their diagnostic tests, but to no avail. It's not a problem with passwords, it seems, as I can receive mails, and send them via web mail, and, as I've said, I can send mails from my .mac account, but I just don't know why it won't let me send from my BT account. Why would it not recognise my sender address, which it gives as my correct email address?
Grrr...
