WMM for AirPort Extreme (802.11n) - UMA T-Mobile not working...

Is there any chance we'll see WMM (WiFi Multi-Media) in a firmware upgrade anytime soon? I noticed that according to the WiFi Alliance's website, when the AirPort Extreme was certified, it supported WMM!

As an early adopter, I just got a BlackBerry 8320 from T-Mobile, which does UMA, so you can use the phone over WiFi. Works awesome with wireless routers that do WMM, basically doesn't work with my AirPort Extreme... As you might imagine, this is quite frustrating, as I have particular desire to have two APs, for basically no reason!

I have a T-Mobile Blackberry 8320 and I downloaded the latest patches from T-mobile website. I also have the latest patches on my AirPort Extreme, and the wi-fi @Home is still NOT properly working.

I enabled the wi-fi and turn off the cell reception (jut to make sure I'm using the wifi)
When I dial my voice mail, it establishes connection for 2-3 seconds (I hear the automated voice on the other end) then it drops the connection.

Whatever upgrade T-mobile made available on ther website (www.t-mobile.com/bbupgrade) is still not solving the issue.

My setup is:
AirPort Extreme 802.11n
Ver 7.2.1
Wireless Security: WPA/WPA2 Personal
Channel: 1 Automatic

Blackberry 8320
v4.2.2.180 (Platform 2.5.0.36)
WLAN 2.1.0.29

I do not intend on using the T-Mobile Linksys wireless router.
Any advice on the proper configuration will be appreciated.

Updated to 4.2.2.180 and 'Allow inter-access point handover' is unchecked and the problem persists. Inbound or outbound call: after a few seconds the connection is lost as is UMA. UMA restores after a few seconds.

PS: wasted literally hours with RIM support in Singapore and they finally acknowledged by follow up e-mail that it is a known issue. I have not received notification that the issue has been resolved.

Is it really working now? Please come back on and tell us every possible relevant setting. Thanks!!!!!

My Mistake.
With the latest patches from T-mobile it works.
Under the home wi-fi profile there are three checkboxes.

DO NOT check "Allow inter-access point handover" option.

Once I unchecked the option, my wi-fi dialing no longer drops connection.
All good now.

i read on blackberryforums.com forum to prioritize my router by going into manage connections, going down to WIFI options, selecting your wireless router, and moving it up to the top. they also said to check all 3 boxes. So far two 2minute test calls were suc cessful whereas i would always get cutoff after 2 seconds on atleast the first call. will be back if it persists. god i hope its fixed this is a nightmare! APPLE PLEASE HELP!

I tried all of those things and all other supposed fixes including putting 4.2.2.180 on my Curve, but NOTHING works. All calls dropped immediately except one which lasted about a second.

It would be so helpful to all of us if one or two of you "success stories" would give us a run through of your relevant settings. Thanks, Scott

from the other thread:

from miberry:

"T-Mobile has verified that the problem with the Airport Extreme is limited ONLY to the newer N types and they, Apple, and RIM are working on a fix. According to T-Mobile, they only identified this problem on December 3rd. As an fyi my Curve works great with the older g type extreme as well as the the airport express."

My WI-FI setup for Voice Calls is still working and I use my Curve 8320 phone for dialing into Conference Calls (which last 1-2 hours) with no drop connections. My Conference calls are done over the @home connection.

AirPort Extreme 802.11n
Ver 7.2.1
Wireless Security: WPA/WPA2 Personal
Channel: 11

Blackberry 8320
v4.2.2.180 (Platform 2.5.0.36)
WLAN 2.1.0.29

One other thing I noticed on my Airport Xtreme Base station is that my "Allow SNMP over WAN" option was enabled. Once I disabled it my phone would no longer dial over the Internet.

I may have found an answer for this. I've been plagued with the same symptoms everyone else has been mentioned. Specifically, my 8320 could connect to T-Mobile's servers, I could place a call, but within 2 seconds of being connected I'd get "Call Failed" on my phone.

I've reset my AirPort Extreme (it's the Gigabit Ethernet, N model) to factory defaults and went through the initial setup again. I used the setup wizard to make the following settings:

• Radio Mode: 802.11n (802.11b/g Compatible)
• Wireless Security: WPA2 Personal
• Channel Automatic

In other words, I've set nothing special here. But here's the kicker. After my base station rebooted I went back into its settings and made the following change:

• Click the Advanced gear at the top of your window
• Select the IPv6 tab
• Set +IPv6 Mode+ to *Link-local Only*

After making this one change and hitting Update, I have been able to place actual calls over UMA!
