WMM for AirPort Extreme (802.11n) - UMA T-Mobile not working...

Is there any chance we'll see WMM (WiFi Multi-Media) in a firmware upgrade anytime soon? I noticed that according to the WiFi Alliance's website, when the AirPort Extreme was certified, it supported WMM!

As an early adopter, I just got a BlackBerry 8320 from T-Mobile, which does UMA, so you can use the phone over WiFi. Works awesome with wireless routers that do WMM, basically doesn't work with my AirPort Extreme... As you might imagine, this is quite frustrating, as I have particular desire to have two APs, for basically no reason!

Let's be clear. The following changes DO NOT fix the problem:

- Changing IPv6 to link-local only
- Unchecking "allow inter-access-point handover"

On one level, this is an isolated issue with a particular product. On the other hand, it's reprehensible it's taking so long for a fix. I'm very disappointed that I didn't read the APE had this issue before I purchased mine two days ago.

Apple & Tmobile had no solution as of today. My Airport Extreme = returned to store.

Now using a Netgear router, 802.11g; compatible with Mac and working perfectly with UMA.

As a further notice to Tmobile Blackberry/Mac users:

I went to the Tmobile store today to purchase their Linksys router (to replace the APE that was incompatible). After I paid for it I looked at the box (they don't let you touch the merchandise there until AFTER you purchase the item) and it didn't include Mac as a supported system. I then got jacked around for the next 15-20 negotiating with the attitudinal 20yo TMO chick to refund my card.

Apple seems to be the only tech company that understands customers, which is a big reason I go there whenever possible. Too bad the APE didn't work with UMA.

I have Verizon FIOS with the Actiontec MI424-WR (Firmware: 4.0.16.1.56.0.10.7) and the same BlackBerry Curve 8320 that y'all are mentioning with v 4.2.2.180.

UMA does the same thing. I can dial a call but get dropped almost immediately.

So, unfortunately it's not just the Airport Express. I haven't tried the UMA stuff at Starbucks yet, but will today.

replying to myself, and to inform y'all of what I found..

The BlackBerry Curve & UMA work perfect on the Linksys WRT54 units. I've tried it on two of them, on two different networks. It also works fine at Starbucks (tried it from 5 different locations) and the T-Mobile hotspots at the DFW airport. Also tried at a Borders, and it worked fine. It poops out when I use an Actiontec wireless access point, though.

It's not FIOS. I disabled the AP on my Actiontec and plugged in the T-Mobile branded Linksys WRT54G and UMA calls have been perfect.

The problem with the Linksys is that they do not offer Mac support out of the box and it is a major pain to get it working. I fiddled with the TMO branded Linksys for a couple of hours, trying various things to get it working and I still could not get my Mac to work with it.

I would be curious to know if anyone has tried the new Airport Express 802.11n with any luck.?
