Anyone using Antares Auto-Tune 5 with Logic Pro 8 on a Mac Intel?

I just bought the upgrade from Auto-Tune 4 to Auto-Tune 5 since v4 didn't work with the Intel machines, and I'm using a Mac Pro.

After trying to tune one simple part of one song, I'm going nuts. The plug-in is full of bugs, it seems -- mostly in graphical mode. Is anyone else either successfully using this set-up or experiencing major bugs with it?

I am using AT 5 but on PPC, where it is working well.

I'm thinking it's an Intel thing.

When I try to use the various tools in the graphical view, the plug-in will just basically stop responding. I can't close out the plug-in window, and sometimes the "options" window of AT 5 will pop up for no reason and freeze. Its "cancel" and "OK" buttons are non-functioning at that point.

I've hard to force quit Logic a few times now, which pains me to say. Not to mention that it's setting my project back.

Antares doesn't have a forum, and I can't find anything else about this apparent anomaly online anywhere.

Unrelated: I've had problems with Drumagog in LP8 as well. If I try to drag the Drumagog pop-up window around the screen, the only thing that moves is the semi-transparent LP 8 "container". The actual Drumagog window stays put as the LP 8 window that frames the Drumagog window moves about. Very strange.

hi, just curious as to whether you may have tried this through a VST wrapper to see if that might resolve any short term issues till a fix is released. could be just an AU issue. just a thought!

Apparently, Antares is aware of these bugs and has submitted them to Apple.

I'd imagine it'll be resolved with an update soon.

Just FYI . . . for anyone that might run across the same issues. It might save you some stress and/or hair loss.

I can't say I've been using A/T 5 with LP8. I've used A/T since version 3.x. However, since I bought the Melodyne plugin, I really haven't found much use for A/T. I would hightly recommend trying it.

Was going to try the Melodyne demo, but it prints noise on the track, and you can't save or export the track with Melodyne applied. Not so useful of a demo for me at the moment...

Thanks for the tip, though. Their site claims that it's been thoroughly tested with Logic Pro 8 and has passed with flying colors.

The biggest downside to switching to Melodyne besides the investment is having to learn a new plug-in while mixing an album.

Hey, just saw your post. I just upgraded to AutoTune 5 about a month ago. . . right before Logic 8 came out. Upgraded to L8 the day it came out, and I just used AT5 in it for the first time last night with no problems. Tuned two lead vocal parts. The only thing I see is that when you draw a line, you don't see it until you make a waypoint and start drawing another line. Other than that, tuned the vocals fine. Looks and sounds great. And I AM using an Intel Mac with Logic 8 and AutoTune 5. . . just for clarification. Don't know whats going on w/ yours.

I am slao using L8 on a Mac Pro with AT 5 and no problems. You have to be carefull with the graphic mode those flat line have a tendency to sound like a unicorn........I found out that AT or any of the sort have to be used in moderation. I guess with AT5 plus AVOX and Harmony Engine combined you can make a so so singer halfway dissent. But a good singer does not need it. The emotions is what count in vocals. A bad voice with emotion turn out to be great (Joe Cooker) he does not need AT5.
Good tools to have anyway.

Antares is releasing an update any day now that addresses the Mac Intel bug.

Just wanted to chime in and say that I encountered this issue with Auto Tune 4 and Logic 8 on a PPC. Bummer - I'll contact Antares and let them know - I doubt they'll do a maintenance release of AT4, so I'll probably have to upgrade, but at least I'll know to wait till they straighten the issue out. Just out of curiousity, does this only happen to you after increasing the buffer size in the Auto Tune options?

Nope. Although opening the "Options" window in AT5 is a surefire way to crash the plug-in, I don't have to open the "Options" window at all in order to reproduce the "graphical mode" errors.

All I have to do is try to draw anything in graphical mode, and the plug-in will pretty much freeze up. Apparently this is a Mac Intel issue across the board, and Apple is working on an update to address the issue.

Shoot Antares an e-mail, and ask them about AT4. They might release at least a workaround for older versions of Auto-Tune. They seem to be diligently working with Apple to get everything straightened out.
