CAF VS AIFF

Just wanted to know what it the difference between those formats.

CAF is a compressed file or not?

Which is better if one doesn't have space problems

It seems that CAF is a great type of audio file

Any ideas?

PowerMac G5 (June 2004), Mac OS X (10.4.10), Apple Cinema display 20inch

I understand it is supported... but, to get the file out of L8 was the question I was looking for. It seems that you can not just export a region or selection as a CAF file... Instead you have to Bounce it. Anyone know why you can't just export it?
