Selection cells and keyboard shortcut

Hi ,
I would like to know if is posibble make a multiple cells selection in Numbers as was in Excel. I mean, in excel you can juast go on the first cell of a column ( or row) and press shift commandarrow down to select all the cells behind untill the first empty, is it possible the same also in numbers?
Because if you have to work with a large number of data, as I have to, this is a basic shortcut.....

I've looked up in the manual, but I didn't find anything....
if someoneelse can help me....
