Error code 0xe8000025

Has anyone else encountered this error code? Having searched for it on the Apples site it comes up with a problem that can occur when syncing an iPhone with Windows-so no help there.
Does anyone know how to prevent this code from appearing? It prevents iTunes from connecting to the iPod.

iPod Touch, Mac OS X (10.4.10)

I just has the same problem...dont use a USB 1.1 port or USB 1.1 "Multi-port" device (one that lets you plug many usb devices into 1 port. It doesn't seem to like USB 1.1. As soon as I plugged directly into my computer's usb port (which is USB 2.0) it synched properly.
Not sure if that will work for everyone, but it worked for me.
