Nike releases amp+

So today Nike released the amp+ wireless watch and Nano remote. It uses the Nike+ receiver.

I bought one today (the Apple Store didnt know about them but they had them 2 doors down at the Nike Store).

Um, I am wondering if it woks with the 3G Nano. I cant seem to get it to link up. There's an extra page inserted into the manual about what to do if your Nano does not have the "Receiver" option under Nike + / Settings, but that doesnt work either.

After peforming a Nano reset and resyncing, the new software update downloaded and installed. Voila. Receiver showed up as an option and I was able to link it.

The amp+ is great! Very comfortable to wear, works great for long runs. No more fumbling for buttons through an arm band.

It seems to be fairly weak in terms of transmission, I had my Nano in a the rear pocket of my fuel belt and it did not receive command from the watch. When I moved the Nano to the front pocket, the watch worked fine.

All in all, very pleased and glad to have it after waiting so long!

In the faq's I found a great way to get the amp working if you ar having issues: http://forums.nike.com/thread.jspa?messageID=112770&tstart=0#112770

it was specificly item number 16:

*16. I went to Nike+ iPod > Settings and I don’t see an option for Remote. Why?*
Older versions of the iPod nano may not show the Remote option when going to Nike+ iPod > Settings. If this is the case, pressing any iPod command button on the Nike Amp+ remote will activate or un-hide the menu item.

hope this solves some of the issues for some of you out there.

I have a 3rd gen Nano and the Nike Amp remote. Is anybody else having trouble in getting their "powersong" to activate using the remote? All of my buttons work faultlessly (including the "powersong" button when used for spoken feedback!) except when I try and get my "powersong" to activate (hold left hand side button down for 3 seconds). All I ever get is spoken feedback.

The other day I spent 10 minutes while running desperately trying to get it to work and failed, I eventually dragged my ipod from my running jacket and activated the old fashioned way.........10 seconds later I was home!

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

ps have latest ipod nano firmware installed.
