I have a week 38 iPod Touch and it was working perfectly up until the update last week. After that I started having problems with my touch screen not responding to anything for periods at a time. I don't think the iPod is frozen because I can still lock it and even slide to unlock it, and I can double press the home button the make music controls pop-up but I can't actually control anything in it.
I was wondering if anyone else was having this problem and if you guys have any suggestions on what to do? I plan on taking it to a Mac Genius in a few days to see if I can show them the problem.
I'm stuck with the same problem.
My ipod touch is unresponsive, ever since I got it, 80% of the time, but somehow "slide to unlock" always seem to respond. I installed 1.1.1.
Only bought it for 2 days... The store which i bought it at is willing to replace a new one for me BUT THEY DON'T HAVE IT IN STOCK.
I went to apple service centre, they can replace for me but they don't have NEW stock, and can't guarantee that it won't be a refurbished one. Then I called apple, and they said they are willing to replace it ONLY IF i had bought it from their website, which I didn't.
I know that's a "normal" practice for apple, but what i wanna know is that why am i subject to second-class service if i hadn't bought from them? Why do they even bother selling to reseller then?! And I can't believe that when they release a new product, their service and support unit is not ready to handle issues like replacements.
I'm gonna videotape the unrepsonsive ipod touch and post it on youtube.
It's gonna be named "ipod touchless" or something like that.
I also have a week 38 ipod touch. The screen does NOT respond over 20% of the time. VERY annoying. For example often when I enter "music" and touch a song name NOTHING happens. As soon as I slide my finger to scroll even a tiny bit FINALLY the screen works like normal. I have firmware 1.1.1
Slide to unlock works EVERYTIME on mine also.
After using this unit for about a week now is seems like "scrolling" or sliding your finger anywhere on the screen gets the screen to become responsive again to touches and taps. Very annoying. Most of the time this fixes the problem but not everytime.
The problem is worse when playing an MP3 for some reason.
At anyrate, Im returing mine for an exchange. Unacceptable. Ive reset/restored it every way possible a half dozen times and its still the same.
it happened to me twice. At first I had to perform numerous hard resets and 2 restores (very annoying) before I got it working again. Now, it's just unresponsive and don't know what to do.
Mine seems to go through times when it is busy and won't respond but then 5 seconds later it is fine. It is almost that after you do anything it takes a few seconds to finish some activity in the background and it just too busy.
The other problem that I have is that my eye hand seems slightly off from the actual touch point - I have to press slightly to the right of where I see what I want to press. I remember with stylus type devices there used to be a touch register routine - maybe iTouch needs something similar.
Assuming this slowdown is from the 1.1.1 update I'm sure it will be fixed. I don't see this desire to blast Apple because of some glitch that will be fixed. If you did that with everything Microsoft did it would be a full time job. This is a great product and we are very early adopters - there will be problems and they will be fixed and other problems will turn up.
hi..ive got the same problem in that my ipod touch sometimes works absolutely fine and sometimes i cant get the slide unlock feature to work! resetting the ipod doesnt help at all 😟 my ipod touch is a week 38 one and i got it through my mate who works at Curry's in the UK. i am from the uk and i did install the firmware update on it too...any help or advice would be very much appreciated?
I have had the same problem over the past week. The touch screen intermittently stops responding for 5 - 10 seconds, and then allows a few strokes followed by another hang. In frustration I called support, and was told that since I had already tried resetting, and restoring the device. And was still experiencing the same problem it was most likely a hardware issue. Which means I basically have to send the device in for 7 - 10 days.
Well, this thing happened for the third time and now touch screen does not respond to my touches no matter what I try. I have a "week 38" iPod touch and I think there is no other way but to return it as this is shaping up to be a hardware problem.
Same goes to mine... I have to connect my ipod to the pc then it will work like normal. But sometimes it didn't work, then i have to make deep reset. If i unlucky, i need to reset it for many times...
Same issue here. The screen stops responding.
The music button, safaria and QW on the keyboard are the worst, it take several taps (up to 10) and sometimes I have to reset to get Safari to launch.
I've tried a hard reset and full charge, but no change.
