Piano Roll window disappears when alt-clicking

Hi all,

I'm trying to use Logic as I did in previous versions, that is, I am not crazy about the all-in-one-window concept. The screen is only so big, and opening e.g. the Piano Roll at the bottom of the Arrange only makes both the Arrange and the Piano Roll too small for any practical use - in my opinion.

So I'm attempting to get used to alt-clicking the regions I want to edit. Alas, when doing so, the window opens only to disappear behind the Arrange window as if I'd activated Arrange - which I haven't. Sometimes it helps to repeat the operation, and other times this only opens more Piano Rolls behind Arrange.

Is anyone else experiencing this - and if so, do you have any tips on how to avoid this unhelpful behavior?

Sorry, but I can't reproduce this behaviour.

My advise is to start using Screensets. I can usually get through an entire project by using 7 or 8 pre-defined screensets. e.g. 1 - Arrange (full with Inspector), 2 - Arrange (with Media Browser), 3 - Piano Roll Editor, 4 - Hyper Editor, 5 - Audio Mixer Environment etc.

Check out page 78 of the manual for details on customizing Screensets.

Thanks. But unfortunately, using Screensets, the Arrange window always returns to the stored location and zoom level, making navigation a hassle. I will have to re-zoom and re-scroll to wherever I was before I opened the Piano Roll.

I should add that I have also tried assigning a Key Command to open the Piano Roll, but it appears the Piano Roll opens at some random position so I, once again, have to navigate around to locate the position I wanted to edit.

I have the same issue when option + double-clicking a MIDI region in the Arrange window...the Piano Roll appears for half a second then disappears behind the Arrange Window. Happens every time. However, after option + double-clicking once and the Piano Roll hides, if I double-click the MIDI region again it appears properly (usually with the first one still hiding behind the Arrange window). Weird. Since this was infinitely repeatable, I filed it as a bug to Apple on the Logic Pro Feedback page:
