Saving ALL parameters in Channel Strip

How do I save ALL the channel strip setting in Logic Pro 8? It appears that only the instrument and plug-ins (i.e. reverb, EQ, etc) are saved. Parameters such as Bus, the amount of signal to the bus, Pan, Fader settings, and track colors are not. Was this intentional or an oversite. I know if Sonar and Cubase 4, these parameters were saved. Please assist...

By the sound of your reply Jim, I'm assuming that it was a miss. I'm new to Logic (still learning while doing a project) -- I thought I might have missed something. Did that function exist in previous versions of Logic and they just missed it in version 8 or has it always been missing?

That's the way they implemented it. Channel strips are largely "channel presets" for sounds and effects settings and thus I argue you wouldn't want "mix" settings (pan, volume etc) stored and recalled with them.

I know I personally wouldn't, and like the way it's implemented now - that's not to say having the option to also write these values into your channel strip preset wouldn't be a worthwhile feature for those that want this.

Understand.... I was thinking in terms of setting up a room with the instruments in their proper positions. Utilizing a bus containing a single reverb, I can mix wet and dry signals to give depth. Once I have an instrument or section where I like it for a partical setting, I would like to keep it in a channel strip and call it into my template as needed.... This approach saves CPU processing versus using a seperate reverb per track...... I also have a predetermined color scheme for various instruments in my orchestra setup. If I want to bring in an instrument that I don't usually use (special case), it would be nice to already have it configured with track color, reverb mix, volume in relation to the rest of the ensemble, etc. I agree with you that an option to pick the parameters that are saved would be very helpful.....

You used to be able to copy all panning, routing, plug-ins, volume, pans, etc... from the Audio Configuration window. But sadly, that window, and more importantly, the functionality of that window, was eliminated in version 8.

From your description though, it sounds like you might be better off saving a template with all your sends, panning, and reverbs in place.

You could even pre-label, and pre-color instrument tracks, so when, for example, you want to load that legato flute sound, you choose the audio instrument track that is already set up with that sound's settings in place.

That might be your best option for now...

I agree Jim.... That's the way I have it set up for the most part. I even dump my Audio Units for each track just to save memory & CPU then hide the ones I don't need. If I need one, I select it from the track library for the matching track and it pops in my Vienna Instrument plug-in. It's just that when I had set up the template, I didn't include all the instruments in the Vienna Library. I guess someday I'll go back and create a master template with everything...hide the unneeded tracks and have each VI instrument configured in the track library for use if required. I'm just trying to improve workflow and minimize set-up time..... Thanks for the input and clarification.
