Power Button to shutdown on iMac

Hello All, just got a second hand iMac (Looks and feels brand new not a scratch) there three days ago it's a late 2006 Intel Core Duo 2 One.

And my it's brill so happy with it haven't found fault with it yet except for one thing which isn't a big thing but I'm used to it with my Mac Book, which i also kept.

The Power Button on the back why is it only for sleep why cannot it be change to bring up the shutdown menu for sleep, restart and shutdown? I've looked through all the settings i know off but can't find anything i turned off the sleep option in Energy Saver, but don't know what else to do.. I'm sure I'm not the only one.

But other than that I'm a very happy man with my iMac (17Inch), Mac-Book, iPhone (8GB) and 1GB Shuffle, lol Yes i like Apple Products there the best.

MacBook, iMac, iPhone, Shuffle, Mac OS X (10.4.9), 3MB Internet

Pressing the power button for about one second puts it to sleep, hold it for about 5 seconds shuts it down completely albeit without the sleep/restart/shutdown menu.
That's the way it's designed. The only time I have used this, pressing the power button for about 5 sec's, is if I have to force the computer to shutdown after perhaps a lock-up.

Stefan suggestion of CTRL+Eject-Key, is the easiest option for you.

So theres no way just to press the power button and get that little menu option.. i mean isn't that stupid very bad design. i know i can press ctrl + Eject but thats like arkward...

i have a little App called Super Shut down, i have a third party app do what apple couldn't it's on my dock so i click it and get the menu or press ctrl + Eject there my only options, pretty bad if you ask me.

Perhaps you should return the Mac and get a computer that is more to your design preferences, because if you throw this kind of fit for something so small you will never be happy with an iMac.

I'm sorry, life's too short for that crap, and then you die.
Apple can't do every little thing that one person might think of to make their Mac perfect. That is why there are 3rd party apps. Someone had an idea or saw a need and set out to come up with a solution. I use all kinds of 3rd party things that customize my Mac for my exclusive use. I learn about new ones every day, here from fellow participants and throughout the web.
I downloaded Super Shut Down. I tried it, but I don't find it useful. I use Fruitmenu which allows me to customize the Apple menu, the contextual menu and much more. I've added Restart, Sleep, Shut Down and Log Out to my contextual menu so that all those commands are now instantly available with a right mouse click. (Don't you dare tell me that is too awkward!)
