About Adding Another Drive to a Mirror Door G4

hi, all. a question that has plagued me since i got this machine... i have a dual optical bay mirror door g4, and i'd like to add in a dual layer dvd burner, while keeping the oem apple cdr/dvdr drive for my normal wear and tear operations. this being the case, when i hit the eject button on the keyboard, will both drive trays eject? will itunes and other apps favor one more than the other? and finally, is there a recommended dual layer dvdr i should favor? thanks.

Hi

Both drives must be jumpered as "CS".
Superdrives shoud go in upper bay (attached to end data cable connector), in cases where you only have one. So, you should move your Combo to the lower bay (attached to the currently unused 2nd data connector).

Eject =Upper Bay
Option-Eject = Lower Bay

You can also enable MenBar Eject from SysPref/Keyboard & Mouse.

You can also use ARDIEM to Reprogram your function keys for multiple Optical Drives.

Pioneer DVR-110 or NEC ND-3540A are available for under $50 online. LG GSA-4163B is also good, but does not always co-exist well with some Combo drives.
