I have made the lexmark x4530 work on my system. When I installed it, I had a bit of trouble getting it to work as well, but I didn't realize other people were having the same problem. When I installed it, I rand the setup disk, and just follwed the directions, but some parts of the directions left me to make a bit of a leap in order for it all to actually work.
The part of the connection where you must disconnect from your wireless and connect to the printer's wireless "network" is a bit confusing, in order to set the desired settings for it to work on the network. Once your wireless settings are in place, you still have to find the printer in Bonjour and connect to it through there. Only after all of this is done (cross your fingers), is the printer finally on the network. Sorry I can't be more specific with the steps, I did this about a month or two ago, and am recalling the steps from memory. I don't want to have to go through setting up that system again. I'm just glad that it works.
All in all, the setup is very awkward and not very straight forward. I hope this helps out.
On a separate note, I ran into a strange occurrence where after my printer was up and running, it stopped seeing the network (flashing orange wifi indicator). I tried reinstalling, etc. and nothing worked. Out of frustration, I decided to unplug the system to see if I could find the mac address on the network card and try a more direct connection or to give that mac address specific permissions through my router. After pulling the power and network card and writing down the data I wanted, I plugged it back in, and it turned it on. It worked like a champ from that point forward. I'm not sure if it was the physical pulling of the power or the network card that helped resolve the hiccup, but it worked for me. Again.. Hope it helps someone out there!
