I'm having a problem where the buttons on the side of the iphone are accidently being hit when the phone is in my pocket often causing the phone to go into a mute state - I then do not hear the phone ring... Is there a way to lock these buttons so they basically become non-functional?
If you go into Settings/Sounds you can turn on the vibrate when the phone is put into silence. Then maybe you can at least feel your phone ring if it is in your pocket and gets turned to silent on accident.
Or try locking it before you put it in your pocket. This is done by hitting the black button on the ver top of it (the one you hold to turn the phone completly off). If you just hit it once it will lock it and turn the screen off. If you hit it again it will tuen the screen on but to the unlock screen. Hope this helps.....
will2b: If it makes it so I don't hear the phone then I'll find it hard to live with... An alternative must be found (or fixed by Apple)
jkmoody: Thank-you, I did put my phone on vibrate just in case... I'm curious though, will the vibrate mode shake things apart within my iPhone over time? I was always leery of having my cell phones on vibrate just for that reason...
Kenzi_Roth: Thanks, I'll lock my phone from now on then... Hopefully it'll ring in lock mode... Will experiment...
iphones: Not helpful advice at all... Would have been humorous if I were a teeny-bopper I suppose...
I put a large piece of blue painter's masking tape over the front and back of my iPhone to protect it. It peels off easily when I need to use my phone, if it doesn't get too hot in my pocket, and it's cheaper than the fancy clear shields.
