PCMCIA TV Tuner

I'm going to by a PowerBook G4 15" but want to use it as a TV. I have read about PCMCIA TV Tuner cards for windows but not for Mac. Need some help with product TV Tuners and how they work on PowerBooks.

Hi Jose,

Welcome to the discussions.

The PCMCIA TV Tuner card is a PCI expansion card. The Powerbook G4 does not have PCI expansion capabilities.

I don't think that it is possible to turn a Powerbook into a TV. You may be able to set up a video input, and just use the screen, but you would be using an external TV tuner.

By the way, this section of the discussions is for the PowerPC G4's (the Towers). It's probably better if you post this issue in the Powerbook section of the discussions - that way, someone with greater Powerbook experience than I have will see it and be able to advise you.

Cheers!

Karl

Hi,

I have not seen a PCMCIA tv tuner for a MAC, just PCI ones, usb 2.0 & firewire ones. The only adapter card is to change a PCI to an PCMCIA, so you can put a laptop card into a desktop. They do not them reverse of that.

These will work, just a little bit bigger than a laptop card. : )
