Question:

Question: "An Error occurred while uploading one of your files. Check network..."

First lets clarify that I have used my account before to order a card and it worked fine.

Now I have made a book and i am trying to order it.
After I click Order, first it is assembled
Then it starts getting transfered.
Then at 4,8MB out of 22MB it gets stuck and after a while I get a message saying:
"An error occurred while uploading one of your files. Please check your network connection and click retry to resend your file"

This has happened four times and of course I know there is no problem with my network connection.

Any ideas anybody?
Please?

This happened to me too today which is very strange. I have ordered many, many books from iPhoto for the past couple of years and this is the first time that I got that error message.

I did everything from checking the date & time, disk utility repair, shut down the computer and restart, etc... nothing made a difference.

However, I became suspicious after the disc utility noticed an issue with iTunes that had to be repaired. I recently purchased some animation shorts from iTunes and ever since then, I have had nothing but problems with iTunes and iPhoto. I suspect that there is something going on between these two programs, perhaps a conflict or preference issue....

I contacted Apple support and will see what they have to say. They generally have been quite helpful in resolving issues.

We contacted Apple support via email and phone, the email service was clueless (nice and polite though), for the phone support, we were on hold for over an hour!

By the time we got through, the tech support realized that this problem is caused by the Kodak server. Virtually every tech support in that room had someone on the line with the exact same complaint, it's a huge problem that is causing Apple to lose hundreds if not thousands of loyal customers.

Since there are so many complaints flying in, they are being labelled as priority and getting top notch attention right now. They are definitely looking into this.

However, in the meantime, they suggested that we find another source to print the books especially if they are Christmas gifts, they don't know how long the Kodak server will be causing these problems.

The same problem justa happened to over in Spain. And is frustrating, because it is first time I tried it. I saw it was uploading the book slowly last night so I left doing it and this morning it just said that message and I couldn't make it finish. What ****** me of mostly is that my credit card was already charged (in EUROS, so almost 50usd). And as it is saturday, there is no one to contact.. Maybe the first and the last of my iPhoto books... Frustrating...

Like others I have been unable to submit books or calendars for printing to Apple. I get the same error messages that others have received. I use CitiCard virtual credit cards account numbers. I noticed that the funds remaining available for the virtual number I used to try to order the Apple books and calendars has decreased. I tried so many times that CitiCards froze the virtual numbers. I actually tried two different virtual numbers before I realized that Apple was trying to charge each time the transaction failed. So far there appear to be no actual charges to my credit card, but I will be keeping careful look at my account for the next few days.

I am not going to attempt to order Apple books and calendars until posters indicate that the server problem has been resolved. My wife is very disappointed as these books and calendars were to be Christmas presents. We have ordered several books in the past and never had any problems. We may order the book elsewhere but are not aware of other sources for calendars.

I may have gotten it to work. After many attempts I got upload complete and was sent order confirmation numbers for two of my books. There were failures in between the two of them, so it's definitely not working the way it should.

So far I haven't gotten the follow-up email stating that there was a problem and canceling the order(s) as I did with one other successful upload.

I'm encountering this problem with ordering prints from large files. I scanned some 8X10 prints at 1200 dpi and ended up with 10-15MB files. When I try to order prints from these files I consistently get an error.

The only thing I've been able to do is export the images as "large" and then re-import them. That reduces the size to around 1MB and the files go through. However, I'm now limited to prints no larger than 5X7.

I don't want to rescan all of these prints, but don't know that I have any other option. I must say that this was never a problem with previous versions of iPhoto. I have ordered hundreds of prints from large images and never had a problem.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Michael

I did not see many people posting in the last couple days that they could not submit orders through iPhoto so I tried again. I tried to submit an order for 4 books twice, once using Airport and the second time using an ethernet connection. Both attempts failed with the same error message. I have a cable connection with 20 Mbps down and 1 Mbps up so I don't think it is my Internet connection speed. All my other Internet connections work fine.

Anyone know anything new about this issue?

We decided to try My Publisher and it worked smoothly using BookMaker for Mac . It took about 10 minutes to upload a 40 mb file. We had to remake the books as the My Publisher iPhoto plug in does not work with iPhoto 08.

However we still would like to make some calendars but we do not know of an alternative to iPhoto. Does any one know of an alternative for calendars?

ok, so my appreciation for Apple customer service and quality solutions was recovered. I admit it was a frustrating experience but now it seems to be solved. The events:
1. After posting here I found an iPhoto customer service page related o the printing services. I sent them a mail explaining what happened.
2. less than 24h later I received an e-mail sying that someone would answer me less tahn 24h later (48h in total and we were in a saturday)
3. on sunday (!!!) I receive an e-mail explaining everything with a lot of details and many explanations, without any sign of ********, very straightforward.
4. They told me to wait and check when possible with the bank account if the payment was done or not (it wasn't, they just request an authorization to the credit card in the first seconds of the operation)
5. Then I felt confident and I reordered a new book
6. .... AND IT WORKED!

Thanks Apple, and thanks guys here in the discussions for not letting one all alone.

Cheers, JP

We decided to go with Kodak Gallery for our calenders. Kodak Gallery calendars are smaller and have fewer options than those on iPhoto but after all the problems we had with iPhoto my wife wanted something straightforward and simple. One major difference between Kodak Gallery and iPhoto is that with Kodak Gallery one uploads their photos and creates the calendar on line before ordering it. Everything is uploaded prior to placing the order.

Next time we need photo books or calendars we will try iPhoto again. Maybe by then Apple will have resolved the issue(s) with uploading photo books and calendars.
