crash crash CRASH

Anyone else's Keynote crashing all of the time?

It happens a ridiculous amount...am I the only one?

It can't be the presentation or the machines - we have done 5 different presentations in the past two weeks on 3 different machines. Two were G4 and one was a laptop, each presentation created on a different machine with a different version of Keynote.

Keynote has crashed at least 3 times a day every day - today it has crashed SEVEN times.
Yes, seven.

It has happened during completely different operations.
Today:
1 - Inserting an image from 'Insert'-> 'choose' pulldown....crash
2 - After saving, hit 'play' button....crash
3 - Tried to resize text....crash
4 - Inserted shape and tried to resize...crash
5 - Tried to reorder builds in the 'more options' drawer (only two builds there), when I pulled the second one underneath the first...crash
6 - Duplicated a slide, and after seeing the rainbow wheel of death forever...crash
7 - Tried applying a different master slide to a presentation...crash.

All of these crashes have happened with different presentations on different machines in different locations for similar reasons. It is never the same reason twice in a row. The presentations have ranged from 12 slides to 70 slides.

The absolutely most frustrating part has been the "saving".
Even though I have been saving more frequently because I am terrified I will lose all my work (since it has happened so much already) at times my "saves" have not gone through. Keynote will crash, and when I reopen the file is not where it was when I last saved.
Hours and hours of work down the drain.

What is going on?
We have the most updated version, yaddah, yaddah...computers are in great working order. The only problem is the keynote.
We can't afford to have this happen during a show. We are very high profile, very well known company, and to deal with this is really frustrating since keynote is the best looking program out there.

Help!

It is crashing, messing up images and putting all these weird pixels all over the slide and notes area..... I can see the splotchy slides on every view except the light table view. It mostly starts happening whenever I try to adjust image tone levels. It has frozen and crashed a few times while I was adjusting images as well. No problems with saving, or play button.

I am having the same problem--crash crash crash. I am using keynote for personal slide presentation (so no deadline except my own) My presentation is mostly high res photos (3.3 MB) and so I wonder if the size of the photos overwhelms Keynote? When I open the presentation and try to run it, many slides show blanks with question marks, even though they show up in the sidebar. It crashes over and over. I like the software, its ease, the templates and would hate to go back to the more cumbersome PowerPoint.

Any ideas anyone?

I am having the same problems. I was using the trial version and presumed that was the problem. I start a presentation and it just crashes, as in the whole computer reboots. Annoying! Especially as I am trying to get stuff done for a deadline. i have all the updates and the presentation itself is only6Mb so I am not sure why it would crash like that. Any ideas?

I do events for a living and have had several Keynote crashes happen on showsite during the last few days.

This was somewhat embarrassing as the clients were renting my machines (Three MacBook Pros) purchased within the past 10 months.)

It has only started happening since I installed IWork '08.

Apple needs to address this problem ASAP (If they want to continue to make INROADS as a serious presentation program.

One presentation crashed during OIL SHOCKWAVE --- an event being carried live by CNBC....

UGH!

It happened later that night on another event with a brand new computer (a client's machine).

Steve Jobs.... Help us NOW!

Respectfully,

Dave Sawyer

I have this exact same problem. For the past week I've been using keynote every day to draw wireframes. It crashes at least 3 times a day for me, and there doesn't seem to be any one thing that will cause it to happen consistently. It's pretty annoying, but hopefully if we all keep submitting the bug reports they'll get onto it. I'm running the latest version of everything (Tiger, Keynote, etc) on a decent core 2 duo iMac.

Just did the update to 4.0.1. Launched Keynote, open a presentation, got to the slide (with a build) it was crashing on, and it crashed just as it did before the update. Problem persists. Keynote is still broken and unusable for all of my presentations built in Keynote 06.

Do I need to rebuild all of my presentations in 08 from scratch? Anyone find a fix?

Keynote has been pretty stable for me except for one bug that appeared today.

When I go to print, select slides with notes, do a print preview, and then cancel from printing, it changes the font size of the notes on most (but not all) pages.

Then, when I try to edit the notes by changing the font sizes, Keynote will crash after one or two edits.

Anyone else seen something like this? I have the most recent update so there's nothing to do on that end.
