LDAP network users/automount points doesn't work after power failure

I posted a question here a few months back, but have not been able to resolve the issue yet. It is archived here: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1013302

I think I may just erase the server and start over--retaining the user accounts, of course. Unless someone has a wonderful solution that will permit me to avoid this step.
