Logic Pro 8 doesn't work at all with Leopard

It crashes while starting up the core audio... any suggestions?

I have had the same issues with logic pro 7, logic pro 8, garageband, and cubase 4. (I posted this problem on the Leopard site) but have I can get them started now after removing the Propellerheads Software rewire file from applications support. OP says that everything is running fine now. However I find that the AU units manager now keeps crashing when I fire up l7 or l8, and I get strange error messages when closing cubase. This is on a PPC (not intel) using an RME fireface 800 as an interface. Is anyone else seeing similar behaviour?

Logic 8 won't open even with no audio interface drivers present (i.e just using the built in audio settings )
neither will LIVE, GARAGE BAND. Although Melodyne, Soundtrack Pro and Garritan will.....so where do I start to find out what the issue is?

Not a great start for LEO in my little world!

Hi Jimelda,

If you had bothered to read the systems requirements for Logic 8, you would have noticed a little something:

Logic 8 NEEDS Mac OS 10.4.9 or later to run. You're, at least according to your signature, running 10.4.5

i know its tough in some cases but my suggested is start it clean .
with Motu 828MK II and clean install i got everything running including AU's
(i've not install all of my AU's but whatever i had time to install works ok .) Butttt L8 performs worse on Leopard then on Tiger . you want more surprises L7 performs better on Leopard then on tiger . with same test project L8 used up 55% of overall CPU and L7 33% . L8 threw on me tons of overload errors.i had no errors with L8 on Tiger . i'm sure its gonna be fixed with time but how soon a year , 1.5 years ? thats another question .

Hi xs4is,

Sorry about that. I just read so many posts about the audio stuff not working.

There are no available ProTools nor Motu drivers approved for Leopard yet.

That is why I got all bunched up... but then, I get all tied up in knots about people not reading what is required to run software anymore, nor investigating if their equipment is approved for use with a new operating system. I forget computers are not used by nerds and geeks anymore...

After doing this for too long...yeah, I get all messed up.

But, I will try hard not to answer any more "I can't get it to work because I did not read the instructions" posts.

Thank you for reminding me, also, that I do need an attitude adjustment sometimes.

cheers

Logic 8 is optimized for Leopard, not Tiger. There is a huge performance difference between the two.

Logic 8 runs very efficiently on Leopard without any interfaces installed. I've managed to run 65 plugins on the 24" Imac running at 2.4 stock...and 46 plugins using my Macbook Pro at the same CPU speed. These plugins were all included with Logic, so I didn't use any 3rd party plugins for the test. I made sure to load up massive amounts of platinum reverbs, ringshifters, and amp model processor effects to really test the CPU.

Apple has not fall short with Logic this time. As usual, 3rd party vendors are slow to adapt.

Logic Pro 8 doesn't work at all with Leopard
