Apologies if this is already covered. When I get to the screen inviting me to choose a drive to install OSX, I get the following message, with a yellow exclamation mark: "You cannot install OSX on this volume without changing your installation settings". Clicking on 'options', I am told "The destination disk must be erased for installation". This is the volume that already has Tiger 10.4.10, and all my files on. It will allow me to install it in a separate hard drive installed in my Mac Pro (and onto my MacBook Pro) - but I want it on my main drive - which is, incidentally, OS extended journaled.
Any ideas? Many thanks!

Am new to Mac. This for some reason reminds me of Windows 98/XP etc install problems but none the less I got around with enough experience.
Because I am new to Mac, I was very eagerly awaiting release of Leopard. I think I will wait this one for a while till I feel comfortable to do this own my own. Besides photos and Music, I did not install any software yet as I had suspected that a clean install might be only solution again my inexperience with Mac, really reluctant.
Thanks for all the reading though I have read up on. I have had my Macbkpro for about 6 months and I can pretty well get around. Its knowing the OS and the file structure that I am novice at comparing to PC from DOS to graphical interface.
It seems I am using my Mac more often than my PC. Its fun learning new things just as I did from Color Computer(coco2,3) from Tandy to PC.
I will give those links a try. Winter is fast approaching in my neck of the woods and soon will be -20 celsius or more. Nothing better I can do besides reading what I enjoy on my Mac.
It seems that the problem of only being given the Erase & Install was due to having an eDrive on my HD, should have removed it
before installing Leopard.
