I have the same problem. I tried an upgrade two times but no luck. An external keyboard works fine. Track pad works fine. No laptop keys respond (1st gen. macbook black, 2gig mem).
I'm going to back up everything and try a clean install. I need this computer for work tomorrow! Do something apple!
I checked all the preferences. No luck. I also check "about this mac". The laptop keyboard showed up.
Times like this I wish we could reinstall drivers like in windows.
I also was using SideTrack... I just deleted sidetrack completely and now keyboard works... Here's the trick -- make sure you
completely remove the following directories then perform a restart. Good luck!
I was the second one to post about the problem. I was using sidetrack too. ****, I wish I had seen everyone's reply before erasing my hard disk! ouch! more hours of installing programs. Hopefully time machine will do it for me. Thanks everyone for pitching in.
Had the same problem with SideTrack. I used a firewire to plug into my roommate's Mac and rebooted my MacBook while holding down "T". That basically turned my MacBook into an external drive on his desktop. Then I went in & deleted all the SideTrack files.
If you don't have a friend with a Mac... drop by Kinkos and do it. Just my two cents.
I had an intermittent keyboard problem with my 17" Macbook Pro after the upgrade to Leopard. It would work, then stop for about a minute, then work again. Lather rinse repeat 🙂
I was confused at first thinking I didn't have any third party stuff like Sidekick. It turns out that about a year ago I installed Microsoft's intellitype software for my wireless keyboard and mouse that I never use.
Once that was uninstalled and I rebooted all seems ok. Hope this helps someone else.
