After the Leopard install the airport card on my Dual 1.8 G5 is not being recognized (the airport menu reads "no aiport card installed". Of course there is a card and when booting a from Tiger there is no problem. It's a stock apple airport card. Any suggestions?
A solution that worked for me: I compared my install with a clean install and found that in the private frameworks folder in the system there was an extra airport folder called airportconfig.framework.
I disabled that folder and rebooted and everything was back to normal.
Pete's solution worked for me as well. Updated with the Keychain updater... no AirPort. Deleted the AppleAirport.kext and boom! AirPort returned. I didn't even have to reboot. Just dropping the file in the trash did the trick.
I ran into a similar problem not after the leopard install but after a software update. The icon for airport after the update dis-appeared. According to the computer the airport card was not there. I went to the system profiler and it told me the same thing.
I did a search of my hard drive and up popped "airportconfigapps.dmg" a program I downloaded I think last year. I ran it and my airport card icon re-appeared in the top screen.
Give it a try and let me know how everyone comes out.
I upgraded from Panther. Your suggestion fixed my problem too. If this is a Tiger file, why was it on my machine? No reply necessary. Just stating that even if you were not running Tiger, this fix works!
