HOWEVER.......very important!

as you know WAVES don't work yet

remove your wave-shell from your AU component folder and disconnect your PACE WAVES dongle..(even after Logic AU scan fails them)

otherwise Logic session will NOT launch....

Hope this helps

My LEO computer is a Dual 2Ghz G5 with 4 gig RAM.
(the install procedure I chose was "Upgrade" (that's right....you read correctly;-)

no you couldn't. kontakt will have to be 64 bit. but there a big disadvatages in going down this road for logic (and i don't plan to start another of those ridiculous arguments here) so you need to look for kontakt to support the same kind of memory addressing as is currently the case for exs.

you don't need to take my word for it - others know about this situation too - but fornow it might be an idea to accept that logic will not become 64 bit anytime soon so that it can inform what you want to do. i am attracted to the idea of EWQLSO but don't like kontakt at all - what i would do if i had it, or i was in your situation, would be to use autosampler to convert my kontakt library to exs to take advatage of exs cpu efficiency, flexibility with other libraries (and how i currently work) and obviously the memory addressing.

this may not work for you but there are other options for you too:

if kontakt is made a 64 bit plugin, it might be possible to load it up in another application - such as soundflower or AU lab (provided they are 64-bit) and access it in logic over IAC. infact, some people do that anyway because it saves loading up samples when switching songs. i would have thought any functionality associated with the plug-in would be preserved.

To run 64 bit, you'll need 64 bit versions of the OS, app, and plugin.

Logic needs to either update to be able to host 64 bit plugins (they're on their way from third parties) or run each plug as a separate process so each one can access a separate 4 gig window. Hopefully Apple will get on the ball and release an update soon, there are a number of bugs in L8 that need fixing, and now it looks like performance under leopard has issues as well.

thanx for asking....all of mt peeps are safe from the fires....

LOGIC8 graphics performance seems very marginally better......

Maybe I'm just slow, but how can something be very slightly better? 😉 SVK, may I also ask what possessed you to upgrade to Leopard? I hope to one day "be you," and want to better understand how your mind thinks. 🙂

I could be missing something, but my waves plug-ins seem to work just fine in Leopard/Logic Pro 8, with no prior tweaking on my part. I have the renaissance compressor, Rev, and EQ and the masters bundle.

To be fair, I have not tried to access my masters bundle yet, but the others seem to work fine so far.

Just thought I'd share my situation. 😉
