yesterday i was working on my macbook pro, and from one second to the next the keyboard & mousepad stopped working. I brought it to the apple shop and voila, it started working again as if nothing ever happened. I went back home and again, no keyboard/mousepad. if i hook up external keyboard & mouse, then i can work.
I've installed Leopard after this, hoping it was a software problem, but no effect. still no mousepad/keyboard working.
When i look in the keyboard&mouse section it says i dont even have a mouse when i dont have an external one connected. Anyone know a solution or do i really need to go to the apple shop again.
Same here although it happens after I started using an external keyboard on my MBP... then the MBP keyboard will stop working from time to time at random... It often happens after I switch between Spaces.
My automatic backlighting has always been turned on and you've led me right to the solution!:
Every time my keyboard stops responding under Leopard 10.5.1 I just cover the light sensors on my keyboard until the screen is fully dark. I then move my hands away and the keyboard returns to normal operation.
Yes, covering the light sensors has worked for me, over the last 48 hours or so. Not consistently. It didn't work at all during the daylight hours today, but has been fairly reliable last night and tonight.
Okay okay I think I finally figured out the problem.
It seems to be a hardware problem. The cable right underneath the battery seems to get loose every now and then. If a squeeze the portion right above the trackpad with one hand, and the battery with the other it, my keyboard works again.
I don't know if this is the same issue everyone else is having, but it appears like the problem for me.
