Konica Minolta 2530DL

Hi,

Since I've upgraded my Macbook Pro to Leopard, my Konica Minolta 2530DL Color Laserprinter stops printing... On my second notebook, a 12" Powerbook G4, running on 10.4.10 Tiger it still works.

The printer gets recognized by OS X, (with the KM Cups drivers), and the USB connection looks fine. Although, when I want to print something there's nothing send to the printer. The print-job says it is stopped. I've already tried to re-install the drivers (latest version from Konica)

Regards,

Macbook Pro 2.2Ghz, Mac OS X (10.5)

Has anyone tried the Konica Minolta drivers from OpenPrinting? http://www.linux-foundation.org/en/OpenPrinting/MacOSX/rastertokmXXXXdl

These are compiled from the Konica Minolta source code. The file structure is a bit different than that distributed in Konica's own packages. The drivers probably don't have all the features either. Right now, however, I think everyone is looking for basic functionality. You would need to uninstall any previously installed drivers from Konica Minolta so they don't interfere. You will also need to install Foomatic-RIP and possibly Ghostscript.

I'll be calling but in the meantime, I sent the following email to the link given on the FAQ page.

Hello,
+This message is for technical support.+
+If you click the link below, taking you to one of many apple.com discussion forums, you will see that I, like many others, am having a problem with the latest Apple operating system (mac OS X 10.5.0 "Leopard") and the KM 2530DL printer. We need help and we need it fast. Many of us have tried a number of "possible" solutions and, while a few have succeeded, the majority of us remain printerless.+

+Here is the link...+
+ http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1198468&tstart=15+

+I am currently set up to print through an Apple Airport Extreme wireless base station. I have two other computers that also utilize this wireless setup. The other two computers have mac OS X 10.4.9 installed and have no issue with the printer. I have also connected the KM 2530DL directly to the updated computer but to no avail. And I, like everybody else, have frantically rebooted, unistalled drivers, reinstalled drivers, tried other drivers, turned firewalls on & off, powered down the printer et cetera and ad nauseam all without success.+

+Please help. There are many of us out there who are in dire straights without a printer. I have a backup printer (it worked fine) but many others do not.+
+It would be great if someone from Konica Minolta Technical Support entered into the discussion at the link posted above.+
+I look forward to your response directly or indirectly via the discussion forum.+

+Thank you,+

I, too, have flipped over to the 2430DL driver and am able to print. Printed a test page from the printer... colors, lines and everything look exactly as they should. Everything else that I've printed has gone through without any issue, as well.

I hope that the rest of you are able to get the same results with the 2430DL driver. I'll still be calling Konica Minolta to find out what they have to say and I'll continue to post here if I find out anything.
Good Luck everyone.

Hello everyone.

I have spoken with Konica Tech support a couple of times and I must say, they were extremely courteous. They are now well aware of the problem(s) regarding the 2530DL and this discussion board. It seems that they are not allowed to post into the forum (must be a Konica policy) so I told them that I would. Here it is.

The short of it is... they know about the problem and are working on it. I certainly didn't feel like I got brushed off in that they really seemed perplexed and wanted to get it resolved and quickly at that.

Even though they can't post, they do have all of my information and have called me back at least once with an update, as such, I will post as I know more information.

In the meantime, even though it didn't seem to make a whole lot of sense to them during my conversations, the 2430DL driver is the best (temporary) resolution. I hope that the 2430DL driver has worked for all of you. I'm guessing that it has helped the bulk of us since this fairly active discussion has really slowed down.
Best,
M. Woodruff
