UPGRADE CRISIS - Do not download the latest keychain upgrade

I applied the update on my powermac g5 Dual 2.0
No problems installing or updating

It's not isolated. Same thing happened to me on my MBP. Had to reinstall Leopard.

The ironic thing is that the login problem occurs on macs with the password set in 10.2.8 or earlier and 8 or more characters. Since you cannot install the patch until you install 10.5 and the problem people face is not being able to login to 10.5 after the install, the patch is scant help. I had to use single user mode to modify the system to even login. At that point the password was not an issue and fixing it later is really not an issue.

A patch for Tiger BEFORE installing Leopard would have been nice.

I also had a problem post-upgrade - now it says I don't have an airport card. I'd recommend holding off if you happen to be reading this...

I had the same problem, grey screen on startup and no OSX with kernel panic.

I was going to reinstall today only to boot again and find it all resolved???!!!!

Same problem here, and am currently stuck on the registration loop. I have tried rebooting several times over. Need help!

Should I just do a Archive and Install and go from there? Hmmm...

No problems on four different machines.

I left mine overnight and it fixed itself. !! Don't ask how..

If you're in no hurry, perhaps leave it otherwise will need to reinstall I'm afraid.

Guess I am too late. I have the same problem since the Leopard upgrade. The system does not even see the Airport card. What do I do?

I would first attempt a clone backup and an upgrade. If it works, you're in. If not you can do a clean install and then copy your apps back from the clone.

Originally, after being a good boy and installing more ram & running repair permissions i chose to 'install' this bad cat..

all seemed well, apart from disk utility didn't work and sherlock has vanished.

BUT
when i downloaded the dreaded keychain update my mac thought i didn't have an airport card...!!

i ended up doing an archive and install to fix, went to the pub, came back, all seems well...

But will not be doing any more updates until advised!

i was upgrading from version 10.3.9 to this bad cat
