Automatic Startup

Hi all, since upgrading my mac on Saturday my iMac seems to automatically start up? Is there a setting in the new OS for this feature? I'd like to turn if off if not then I've a new ghost that likes my iMAC.

Any help would be great thanks...

I think you might be right. I trashed all the preferences above, then reset my system to shut off at 2:00 a.m. like always. This afternoon at 5:00 p.m., it started up just like it had been doing since I got it (two weeks in a row now).

I've trashed the preferences again, but left off the auto shutdown for 2:00 a.m. We'll see if it starts up again tomorrow. Hopefully this will fix it. If not, I hope that Apple fixes it in the next patch. I hate it when my computers start up on their own... creepy.

Hey Dozier 41 my system wakes up at 6:00 pm cst everyday. I checked system preferences and to no prevail my system continues to turn on at the same time everyday. I have gone as far as checking itunes preferences for podcast. The podcast schedule was for 6 pm everyday and I removed the startup there and the system continues to startup. Nothing I have tried has worked to solve this mystery. My next move will be to take it to the apple store to see if there techs can solve the issue.

Mine booted last night at 1:00 am - it's the fist time it's ever done it since I got it a week ago.

Checked my Energy Saver prefs, then I went on the net for ananswer because that sure isn't it.

I don't have Eye TV, I don't even have the "com.apple.AutoWake.plist" file on my machine!

Basically, save yourself the hassle and stop looking for an Eye TV bug. It's something else.

Hello,

We have investigated this and found that is a small bug with the OS wake up function. We will incorporate a workaround in the next update of EyeTV, but until then there is a terminal command which will fix it.

Copy the following line of text, open the Terminal and paste it in, and press enter:

CODE: SELECT ALL
sudo pmset schedule wakeorpoweron "03/31/49 06:00:00 GMT" "com.elgato.workaround"

Enter the admin password to confirm.

This will add a scheduled wake-up event far in the future (2049). This will prevent the false wake-ups, but will not affect any 'real' wake-up events which may be scheduled by EyeTV or other applications.

If you ever want to remove this work-around, use this command in the terminal:

CODE: SELECT ALL
sudo pmset schedule cancel wakeorpoweron "03/31/49 06:00:00 GMT" "com.elgato.workaround"
