LG Viewty

Not going for the iPhone because I want a better camera and LG have brought out the fab (if weirdly named) Viewty.
Of course it's not mac compatible with iSync so I may be posting in the wrong place.

LG's support people were quite rude when I tried to find out if it would show up as an external flash disc or if there was any other way of porting photos taken on it to a Mac or even if it had Pictbridge. The answer (at premium phone rates) was a very curt "No!" to everything, no attempt to even pretend to be helpful. I later found out from a review site (there is currently nothing useful on LG's site) that actually it does have Pictbridge so at least I can connect to a printer but LG's "support" staff don't seem to know this.

If anyone gets one of these and has any success getting the photos onto a Mac can they post about it?

I wouldn't bother normally, particularly with LG's bad attitude to people trying to actually BUY their goods, but I really want a camera that's also a phone rather than a phone with a bad camera and this seems the best around at the moment. I looked at the new Sony-ericcson K850i but it was rather disappointing and didn't take anything like such good photos in the shop.

Anyone having Bluetooth issues?

More often that not my transfers simply fail half way through... but transfering old videos from my previous phone to the viewty via BT seems fine...

Can I just add its an awesome phone. Wi-fi would have been an nice addition... I find it odd that there are no so many devices that come close to being perfect - but nothing gets it totally right... ho hum.

Funny you should say that.. I just had a problem transferring a photo to my MacBook; first time it has happened! The MacBook thought it was starting to receive the file, but the phone bombed out.. weird!

H264 video is a great party piece also.. gets everyone jealous and trying to hide their Windows Mobile phones which they (up until now) were proud of! te he he!! 🙂

hmm... so it's possibly not just my handset thats playing up?... it's incredibly annoying! i'm taking delivery of a memory card tomorrow so i'll be able to take advantage of using it via USB as a mass storage device. which should give me easier access to all my files.

and why oh why did LG not include a cable to hook the phone up to my tv!

the 120fps videos are a bit of a show stopper... everyone is fascinated by them!

You can export out your contacts from the phone as a Vcard (VCF file).

On the phone open the main menu (4 dot icon in the bottom tool bar)

Open Contacts.
Select settings, then backup contacts.
This lets you save the contacts to the external memory card (microSD).

Go back into the menu and pick the second option from the top in the tool bar on the right hand side.
Select My stuff and then External memory
Open the folder called - Others
You should see a nice little VCF file sitting in there.

That sound's good. I'll search for solutions to automate the process.

° Exporting vCards from Addressbook (AppleScript)
° Exporting VCF-file in phone (eventually via AT command on the phone)
° Read VCF from SD Card (when mounted as drive)
° Comparision
° Back-Sync to Addressbook
° Removing all contacts on the phone (eventually via AT command on the phone)
° Moving all vCards from Addressbook to the Phone (Bluetooth/Serial)

I've done that but when I plugged the phone to my MacBook Pro I couldn't see any folder structure.
It happened because it was brand new micro sd card. Once I have moved one picture from internal memory to the card, the LG phone formatted the card and all the folders showed up.

Here is my Viewty made to look like you know what:
