CD doesn't import when I click "import"

When I stick a blank CD in that I do not have in my library, SOMETIMES, after it asks me if I want to import and I agree, the CD disappears from under "Devices" and does not import. Only when I eject and reinsert does it import (after asking me if i want to import it). This happens intermittently.

I am getting the same problem - when I insert a regular audio CD of my collection to import - the computer asks whether I want to import it and then when I say yes - the Device (superdrive with the CD inside it) is no longer shown in the iTunes list or on the desktop - I had imported about 4 -5 CD's before it happened with no problems but now it happens on every one - it is like the superdrive has a problem - maybe it is too hot for multiple imports??? When I reinsert the CD (after ejecting) it now works and imports - really wierd - has anyone else experienced this and I wonder if this might be a firmware or Leopard issue??? I wonder if Apple needs to hear about this....

I'm having basically the same problem.
Whenever I insert an audio CD into my iMac, it mounts, then when I launch iTunes, the program accesses CDDB Gracenote, then for a split second the correct songs appear, then the whole thing disappears. iTunes reverts to the main music screen, the CD no longer appears in the left sidebar and *it even disappears from the Finder*. I have to use Disk Utility to eject the disc. I've tried this with a number of different audio CDs.
I'm running Leopard and iTunes 7.5.

Any ideas?

I am getting this same problem as well.

Insert audio CD, iTunes asks if I wish to import (at this point the mounted CD icon disapears from desktop), and if I choose "Yes" to importing, nothing happens. The whole device vanishes from finder windows. I need to eject the CD and reinsert to get around the problem.

I'm running Leopard on this:
Model Name: MacBook Pro 15"
Model Identifier: MacBookPro2,2
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 2.33 GHz

iTunes:
7.5 (19)

Really annoying problem...

It seems like the problem is perhaps with the "Get CD Track Names". At least if I have the CD mounted (the icon appears on the desktop) and select Advanced -> "Get CD Track Names" that same thing happens. Icon disappears from the desktop and the CD/DVD drive disappears from finder.

Hope this helps to narrow down the problem.
