RME Fireface 400 Outputs ?

With the 6 outputs on the FF400, should I be able to plug in 6 headphones for playback? If so, do I set this up in the TotalMix mixer?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.4.9), RME Fireface 400 , Glyph HD, Logic Pro 8

The Fireface series only includes 1 powered headphone output (output 7/8). You will need a seperate headphone amplifier/distribution matrix from mackie/furman/behringer/rane etc.

You can create 4 total headphone mixes with the outputs on the fireface 400, as each headphone mix will require 2 outputs, but aside from the built-in, front-mounted headphone jack, you wouldn't be able to actually power headphones, even if you combined outs 1/2, 3/4, 5/6 in order to plug in headphones directly.

Thanks yoink, I will look into a headphone amp. But I can power 4 headphones?

Only with a headphone distribution amp could you power 4 sets of headphones (some power more and allow you to supply independent mixes to musicians who are suffering from the "More Me" syndrome).

With the Fireface 400 you can power 1 set of headphones.

I hope that helps! 🙂
